Thompson Motorsports-ECS Novi 2500-I'm back
After all the bs I've been through, I'm finally back. Kyle at Thompson Motorsports shipped me a nice forged 370 in October last year with a 1 year warranty. Well, an ex employee of a vendor here completely put my top end together wrong. Shims coming out on first crank up under the springs, etc. It's quite a long story. After 6 months of my car sitting around 2 Houston Shops, 1 highly respected, and fully paying cash out of my pocket for the full R&R, the car wasn't done. I took the car over to one of Houston's best known mechanic's house, aka Bad Chad. Had the heads off, valve job done, new shims that actually fit unlike another shop, etc. Car was fired up in 3 days and is running like a champ.
Just glad the car is up and running. Oil pressure is solid, heat isn't an issue in traffic, etc. I've got about 200 miles and 6 cycles on this motor with break in oil. It's not far off from getting on the rollers.
This motor was rated for 850rwhp from Thompson Motorsports to me on the invoice. It might make that, might make a tad more or less. This will be a nice motor to have back in the car. I'll be looking at doing another LS2 based aluminum 402 in this car next year at 950-1000rwhp. I'm looking to go after Ricky's record, but after spending $7000 bucks to R&R the motor and install a blower kit, I'm done right now and just want to get back to fishing weekly out of South Padre Island. I'm so sick to my stomach from these big shops.
Big thanks to Thompson Motorsports for the great customer service, great time frame and no BS. We can game plan the LS2/402 build soon. My last 402 built locally was flat out nasty and bullet proof, but I think they also forgot where they started like many performance shops. Also, big thanks to aka Bad Chad. He got that name for a reason in the LS scene in Texas.
And after 300 miles and 5-6 heat cycles, quick revs to 3000-3500rpm. BOV makes it seem much higher. Going to add a second tial 50 or go with the big red Procharger. I haven't liked any of the big BOV's I've had with an old YSI kit on my my C6.

Awesome! Feels good don't it? I just got mine back together and about 300 miles on new motor as well with break in oil.
I'm doing a combo of the AMS recommended break in procedure and what GM is doing with the new Z06. Motor feels fantastic.
How much does the Bud Light injection add?

Yeah, and it's people you consider friends too Brett. Got tagged with a bill for keying the crank and installing a blower with a couple missing clamps that I won't post, but you guys wouldn't believe it. The shop owner put a customer's CTS-V in a ditch the same time I was getting my bill at the front desk, so karma got them that day.
Thanks guys. Hope to post some numbers soon.

No, I've stated I'll that I will. But after talking to a few other people, that shop isn't the only ones charging these rates. I guess the demand is there.
What's everybody's opinion on gulf racing fuels? That's what Pat G tunes on for cars making 20psi plus.

Glad you finally got it up and running, Time to enjoy.
I think I know of both the shops that you dealt with in the past-That really sucks to know people out there will screw others.
BTW, Ask Pat's son if he would like another daiquiri.

Congrats on getting it back on the road. Be sure and spend some time enjoying it. These cars were made to be driven and I would daily one if I had the room for a 2nd one.
Looking forward to the numbers that you put down at the track and hopefully lining them up one day.

Thank you, Ben! I appreciate it. It appears DopefedZ went over and told Mike at Gforce about this thread, because now I'm getting crybaby text messages from them. Could care less now.

I gave him an open invitation to call me a week ago, Ben. He didn't take me up on it. I've got zero issues with any of the quality of work they have done. And Mike has always nailed my tunes. And I purposely didn't mention the shop name until the text today. Mike had an open invitation for the last week to call me, his biggest supporter, always praising their shop. Didn't get a hand shake and laughed out of their office basically. So my offer is now retracted. It's over, done. Car is fixed, tune is Monday with a reputable tuner.
I'd like to keep this back on track. Most of here all know each other personaly or through friends of friends. I have no clue what the car will make. I told Pat G the setup and he sounded like he thinks it should be higher than what I tgought. But a 116 tune with no air filter for kill is probably going to make a lot more than the old pump gas/346 CI tune which was 830's. If it makes more, awesome, less, I'll still be happy. I can always swap pulleys and probably pick up 1-2psi with a 2.75. It's a fun little car that turns heads living in downtown/midtown for what it is.
Regorith, let's do it. Bill W, Ben, and Alan's car is down. TI is this weekend so let's try to get as many guys in the 800-1100hp area together after the dust clears and we see who is standing still. Nareg and a few low 9 second stangs in the same power area will want to play too. I know Ben is going for crazy HP but maybe we can get him to turn it down a bit.
