Default New Setup in the Works

As most of you know my 11 year old stock bottom end decided to retire. After talking to a few people I decided what setup would be ideal for me. As of yesterday everything is on order (thanks Brain Tooley) and is on its way to my buddy Tommy at AMR. So hear goes;

LS2 Block
K1 Stock Stroke Crank
4.005 -3.2 Weisco Pistons
Compstar Rods
BTR Cam
Ls7 Lifters
Meiling Oil Pump
My Original TFS as cast 220 heads worked over by Brian
ARP Studs all the way around
Replacing 3" pulley with a 2.85" (thanks Arun) on my oil fed 2200

Nothing too crazy but I feel its solid and hopefully will get me in the 8s even with my crazy DA.

Awesome....yeah Tommy told me on Wednesday day he was putting your new motor together. She will definitely be in good hands.
Now you just need him to piggy back that Holley Dom EFI setup in your ride !!

I'm sure the stock bottom motor provided you with invaluable tuning and overall combo experience.

Good luck with the new power plant.....

Sounds like a solid plan Albert.. Only thing I might would change is the Compstar rods.. Why not K1 rods as well?

I think you have a good platform there as long as you don't get greedy down the road and try to make real big power.

I'm liking your "less is more" approach... I am following suit.

Thanks guys. Brain said the compstars are perfect for anything right at 1000 rw, anything else would be over kill and would just be overspending. I really don't want to get to that point. Seems like that's the fine line where your car starts spending more time on jack stands than on the street.

I hear ya man. My car has been on jacks about 2 years out of the 3 years I've owned it. Only put 10k miles on it in 3 years. That's 2 motors, 3 transmissions, 4 rear ends, and a grand total of maybe 20 passes.

Now with the mess I'm going thru, I'm ready to pull the plug. I'll live vicariously thru you on my quest for 8s on pump gas.

Sub'd looking forward to see what this new setup can do. If I could spare it, I'd donate my shortblock so you can finally get that 8 second pass before you put in this new beast.

sounds good buddy.. I would change the rods. They may be enough for what you're looking for, but sometimes we get a little greedy and feel the need to push it a little more....jus sayin...

Good luck.. After the new beast is built you need to get it up here!

I now respect you for saying this . 8 come hard I know first hand only seen low 9 sec here . Your new combo looks like mine and others. I would like to see you make 8s with a full weight car I'm too busy too try.. a/c work is too much right now. Go do it Albert 8.99 ..

don't think i will have enough to keep up with a couple of turbo foxes. those dam things are fast. charlie, with his top of the line build and his F1X might have enough if he gets them off the line. you need to come down and hang out when both cars are done.
