Default Are upgraded valve springs needed? 10-13 psi

Trying to determine if I would need to replace the stock valve springs on my 2003 z06 with 23k miles when running 10-13 psi of boost... thanks

Any other mods besides the boost? Cam? Heads? etc ... Short answer is probably NO but if you're running a bigger cam, it sure wouldn't hurt.

02 and early 03 (?)

Its cheap enough to just replace them and not worry about it.

Stock springs will work, as defects were corrected in future revisions. I wasn't sure if early 03 was 100% in the group of spring issues, I 100% know 02 was though.

I had valve float with stock springs on mine. I had planned to run the stock running 8-9 psi. Numbers were low. Discussed with tuner and on this forum that maybe the springs were the problem. I replaced with PAC single springs. Gained 60-70 hp by swapping them out.

jfyi type of stuff.

Here's what I have in mine and it is cheap insurance and pretty easy to change with a spring compressor, air compressor and pin magnets.

.625" Lift PAC 1211X Beehive Springs
PAC 1211X 1 $169.00 USD $169.00 USD
LS Chromoly Pushrods 7.400" long
PR7400312 1 $89.00 USD $89.00 USD

Stock springs are pretty weak. Their effective pressure is further weakened by adding boost. No way I would keep stock springs on it. A valve train that's out of control can damage your motor a lot more than most folks seem to think. It's too cheap to not do.
