With B&M's best cooler, I see around 190. I still run it through the radiator first. Some guys run it direct bypassing the radiator and see lower temps. Probably in Florida you do that too. Mine is installed beneath the drivers headlight with the brake duct removed. The fan pulls the air through the duct and it exits to the wheel well. I bypassed the thermostat that comes with the cooler and have a switch in the ash tray. I only turn the fan on in traffic or days when it tops 100+. If you're not supercharged, you can mount the cooler in front of the radiator. Use -AN fittings and braided lines. Figure about $500 but it is worth it. Rod

Rodney @RPM told me to keep it under 200 and closer to 180 if possible. I used B&M #70297 cooler with fan for mine and it works really well. If you hide it under the driver's headlight make damn sure you put it low enough to clear the light going up and down. If you can mount in front of the radiator it isn't so critical. If you were in Socal, I would help you do it. Good luck, Rod (remember: -AN fittings and braided lines.)

I use the same B&M 70297 cooler.... Most of the time I'm in the 160-170* range when its 90* outside... If I am in some serious bumper to bumper traffic, I'll see 190*.... Highest ever was 195*..... At the same time my engine was 235*...LOL
I don't run the trans fluid thru the radiator....That's gonna heat the fluid up for sure.
Anything 200* and less and I'm sure you're fine... And if it DOES go over 200*, just drive it easy til it cools down.... its not like its gonna blow if it hits 230...
The torque converter slippage is the biggest factor in the trans heating up in traffic. My converter is pretty loose...

My trans was done at RPM and it does not have braided lines and AN fittings so it cant be that critical or I think they would do it that way. Mine just has high pressure hose and clamps.

I don't think I've had mine stuck in traffic in 98* temps yet, but I still don't think it would get 215*....I'd have to be stuck in a LONG traffic jam of bumper to bumper stuff to get that hot..... my engine would over heat WAY before the trans would...LOL,
A tip for you...
Initially, I had a much larger trans cooler in front of the radiator, the trans wouldn't go over 170* no matter what I did.... The problem was it was blocking the condenser (or so I thought) causing my high engine coolant temps...
I swapped to the 70297 cooler based on RPMs recommendation and moved it to the side to clear room for the radiator. I gave that cooler to a buddy of mine with a 2012 GS with a 3500 converter and he was seeing 220+ temps with the factory cooler, after installing the big cooler I gave him, he hasn't been over 180*.
You can see the cooler here:
Its the closest one to the intercooler. I BELIEVE it was this unit right here... I didn't buy it new so I am not 100% sure this is it but......I think it is..

Its a bad b*tch for cooling the trans down... cools way better then the 70297.

So AJ did your water temps go down when you moved it over? Or was it about the same. Is it worth the moving or should I look into the bigger cooler upfront? I plan on a better radiator and fans and possibly putting a screen upfront in lisence plate cover.
Thanks

I mean having the trans cooler in front of the radiator obviously can't help water temps but, mine did not improve a bit when I moved it.
My buddy has the big one on his GS and his trans runs 150-160 most of the time, his water temps are unchanged from before...However, he does not have an intercooler in front...(NA car)
The big cooler knocked 40-50* off his trans temps over his GS trans cooler.

I have the same cooler as AJ and in the same place. I bypass the radiators cooler altogether though. In Houston heat when it was 95* I never seen it above 165* and even in bumper to bumper traffic (didn't get on it to much, but did the occasional short WOT burst). Fan thermostat is bypassed and stays on when the car is on.
Mine is mounted horizontally and not nearly as nicely installed as his is.
