Default Aftermarket guage light source

I've used the A&A instructions on wiring up aftermarket gauges but I have ran into a problem. The purple wire on my trunk release harness does not seem to work. This is supposed to be used for the positive light wires, however it doesn't get power with the car in the on position. My trunk release button is illuminated and my button functions perfectly.

Anyone have any idea what's going on or have an alternative source for my gauge backlights?

I don't believe it was. I eventually found a wire that would work on the trunk harness. One of the brown wire gave me power with the key on. Guess I didn't poke hard enough when I tested it the first time. Never could get the purple wire to work

the brown wire in the trunk switch is the one with 12V when the lights are on. or you can use the power pigtail that's in the passenger floorboard fusebox. it has a switched 12V lead as well.

Anyone using the lighting for the trunk lid to power gauges - did you ever have the power go off after awhile (like a hour of driving)? I have 4 autometer gauges hooked up to this wire (led gauges - cannot be much draw). Sometimes after a hour or so the light for trunk release and hvac lighting will go out (which then knocks out my autometer gauge lights). Seems like it has to cool off before it works again...
