Stock Z06 with ECS S/C... +cam?
2001 Z06, stock with axle-back exhaust and 41k miles. Goal of 500+ whp and as safe/durable as possible. I have already committed to an ECS Novi 1500 kit, and I am considering adding a Comp 220/220 .581/.581 115 LSA cam. Either setup will be dyno tuned by a pro.
I have done some research and found most people consider 500-550 whp "safe" on a stock LS6 bottom end, especially with conservative AFR and timing. Assume you have two identical LS6 engines with the ECS kit, one with the cam mentioned above and one with the stock LS6 cam. Both engines run the same boost psi. Is the cammed motor inherently more unreliable, just because it makes more power? Either one would be never see more than stock redline. Is the additional cylinder pressure generated by the bigger cam the problem? If there is a hard limit of 500-550 whp, would you rather run a stock LS6 cam and 6 psi or the Comp cam and 3-4 psi? Wouldn't lower psi be better for reliability?

Drifting
Very few early early early production 01 Z06's had a problem with oil consumption.
I saw throw a blower cam in it to help the motor out.

550 is easy to achieve with or without the cam added, but if you really want safety with the build add meth injection. Race gas on demand!

You don't need a cam for your goal, just meth and a good tune.
A cam wouldn't hurt you in fact you would run more efficient requiring less boost to achieve same power goal. If your goal is only 500-550whp, just put a blower on and don't open the motor. Take the money and put in a forged motor fund for the future.
I have a stock LS6 with a Novi, ARheaders, hi-flows, meth and tuned 6 psi, 581whp have put 17k on it never a hiccup.
