Default Oil Fill Breather

Is there an alternative to the breather that goes into to oil fill hole? Seems I saw a cap with a tube that runs into a catch can. If there is an alternative let me know where I can purchase. Thanks

Metco has a nice adapter for the oil cap to -10AN fitting. Then you can connect a Moroso breather tank for a puke tank.

Product ID: MBR0003-10AN

Is this recommended on all our supercharged Vettes? Why?

Pretty much. High cylinder pressure = more blowby

Need to get that blowby out or you'll pressurize the crankcase and can blow a main seal.

Some people just run an open breather on the oil fill cap.. and that can work. The problem I had with it was the smell. The fumes coming out of the open breather cap would get into the cabin through the vents near the windshield wipers and I hated it. Made my head spin.

The mightymouse setup fixed that 100% for me and I think it looks pretty slick.

The oil cap breather was OK for me up to 11-14psi. Never had smell until I removed the PCV so I put it back. Once I got boost 14-17+psi then oil splatter becomes a problem where you want to contain it.

Thanks guys.

I see the mightymouse setup above, but is there a place I can get more info on it? I'll do some searching and see what I can come up with. Seems like I should have that at 12lbs of boost.

EDIT: Additional info for others curious about this setup

Does the MM can have a check valve on the clean side?

The PCV version has a PCV valve that closes under boost.

Good deal. The PCV version will have a 3/8" barb I believe for the clean side. Dirty side you can get -10AN. I got the same thing on mine.

MM can is a great product, and Dave is a great guy to deal with. No more oil fumes around the engine with these things.

Default Oil Fill Breather

Thanks, will look into it. Was thinking of neatening up the two Hobbs switches and NPP exhaust vacuum connection.

I have one similar to that made by obx that has 6 ports on top, a plug on one end, and a hose barb on the other end to connect to a vacuum source... I put it behind my driver side fender so everything is out of the engine bay to cut down on the clutter
