MSD's deteriorate in a hurry on my car too. I switched to Accel ceramic. They don't have an LS specific kit though, you have to make them. But they've held up great so far.

The problem with the MSD wire is the dual crimp on the spark plug side. If you make your own MSD wires and skip the dual crimp and just fold the conductor under the wire and crimp over it like on the coil pack side you have a better connection. The MSD pro crimp tool is a good investment. You can also order jaws for it to do other style electrical connectors.
