Belt slip horror on blown c5z
I had no belt slip prior to upgrading my head unit, I was on a v1 s w/3.4 and 10% crank overdrive e85 making 720hp on 10 psi... Now that I upgraded to the T trim its horrible. Besides the laser adjustment tool and getting a flip drive, what else can I do... Should i use the cro bar method to tension the **** out if it??? Scared of breaking stuff ;( and I don't have the money to go 8rib

Are you sure you are using the right belt? You shouldn't be slipping with that setup...
Clean your pullies, use a gates belt (not the green one). Get a good amount (but not too much) tension on your belt

I'm using the a&a corvette kit, and no they didn't use the laser tool... Why not use the green belt? Also my tuner is throwing the idea of using carbonite coating on the pulley... What is the right belt size sorry guys, it's depressing lol... I thought I was going to make more power

Sounds like you are getting good advice for the most part here OP. Tighten it down real good.
Ps. It don't matter who's base blower kit you buy they all slip after a certain power level.
If you do your homework around here; you may notice that the two main centrifugal supercharger kit producers have spent considerable time addressing belt slip issues that arise with their own products.
Because of these inherent problems with belt slip, over the years there have been things out there like Secondary/Direct/Flip Drives increased Rib configurations and Modified crank balancers to run a Cog Belts off Jack shafts of said Secondary/Direct/Flip Drives.
The main difference is that some will take a jab at the competition any chance they get (even though their products have the same issues) and others will not.
On that note there was a gentleman who used to own a yellow convertible C5 here with a novi 2000 supercharger (about the equivalent of the Vortech T Trim head unit) with the "Ours Don't" Kit; he was running about a 3.4 maybe even a 3.6 pulley and he always talked about how he didn't have belt slip. Anyway, one day he decided to throw one of those Direct Drives on his car because he wanted to take away some of the stress that the single serpentine belt coupled to a centrifugal supercharger puts on the engine accessories. He put it on and made no other changes... Low and behold, one of the side effects of adding the direct drive was that he picked up 4 yes you read it right... 4 pounds of boost pressure! :wow:
That must have been because he didn't have belt slip on his "Ours Don't" Kit right?!

No it's not. The all rubber non HD belts are the way to go...
My old setup, I was trying to max out full 8 rib (3" pulley, 8" OD balancer). I swapped to the all rubber belt after talking to ARUN and boom, belt slip be gone. I don't drive my car much these days so both belts were fresh.
If they make a non HD version that's the one you should be running.

belt
16 pound of boost gates green belt tight as possible With the A&A bracket and 8 rib and i hit the boost mark every time
I guess everybody has a deference of opinion which is a good thing.

Dallas performance direct drive of balancer and a 8 rib for me. The direct drive is the cats meow for eliminating belt slip. U may not think your slipping but u may be suprised. Tightening belt too much can also do a number on a stock 2 piece balancer which will separate once u start stepping up the boost. Not to mention that ecs is to my knowledge the only company that uses a higher tension pressure tensioner where all the others use a Oem tensioner.

Don't point out the obvious, the minions don't like that.
It's fact guys, sorry if it does not fit your agenda. Our kit can handle a 3.25" pulley with a six rib belt where others cannot, which is why we have so many 6 rib 700 rwhp cars out there running 9's with our base kit.
Both are great though, use what you choose!

Is it not not stronger then your OEM tensioner? Answer - YES, geez guys. It's a better tensioner, period. Deal with it.
I only pointed this out because a while back I wasted a ton of time trying to get a 3.25" set working for a customer with the other kit, it would not hold. I called several shops who sell both and they all concluded that a 3.25" pulley and a six rib belt will not hold. Including Arun.
The point is that this conversation will help the OP, rather then spending a ton of time trying to get it to work. I was told a 3.4 is about max and iffy at that.
If someone is using a 3.25" and a six rib with good results, including track times to back up the claim, lets here it. I have a ton of those results posted on this board.

If this is the same person. I spoke with OP when he called me. Story goes his "shop" was afraid to tighten the belt. They wouldn't do it so he tightened the belt himself and boost came back up.
I'm still trying to get clear info from OP and the "shop" on this one.

Don't tell them what the tensioner is used on from the factory. They will explode...
Thanks for all the R&D and headaches yall go though so we don't have too. There's a few of us that appreciate all that yall do.
