Intercooler Question
My 427/F1C Procharged C5 is running the original (2006 era) , restrictive twin intercoolers. My tuner tells me that a large, single cooler will pick up at least 100 RWHP, so I'm considering one of the big Treadstone units. Are these recommended, since they cost about 1/4 of the Procharger alternative?

I just got my treadstone intercooler fabbed up..Just be advised you will have heating issues once you start messing with a front mount. I opened up the front license plate to feed air and have done some other stuff to solve the issues.
I didn't know what I would get into just putting in a front mount so do your research. If you have any additional questions you can hit me up.

Drifting
100 hp? where would that come from?
i have the "small" ecs cooler and its plenty for the street. i have yet to see iats more than 10°c over ambient and dont have any cooling issues (with a pretty low rubber skirt in front). if you do any kind of racing like 1/2 mile, then the sky is the limit.
measure pressure drop through your coolers. that will give you an indication of power gains to be had. (lets say your running 15 psi and have a 6 psi drop. if you reduce that to 3 you might get 18 psi as the upper limit. a power gain of 10% and probably cosiderably less.)
if your have higher charge temps than me with the fender based coolers, you might in fact gain some more power.
(just noticed its an old thread.)

i would not run those treadstone intercoolers. guys on ls1tech have had IAT issues with way lower power than an F1C. procharger ones are proven at huge power. I am running the ECS intercooler at 900whp and Unreal on here ran it to >1k whp without issues. but I also run dual nozzle methanol with m10 and m15 tip. zero IAT issues on my car up to ~175mph in the 1/2 mile when it's 85-90* outside so I see no reason to change mine.

AA or ECS quality seems better but they do not have the twin inlet for a twin turbo setup ? My project consist in running the procharger stage II twin intercooler and the larger in between.

I had it on my c5 Doug was great to deal with and much cheaper than what you are talking about doing. Plus the one from Doug will do as much as the other. Robert

I'd have to check which treadstone innercooler I'm running but it's big. It's blocks a good 80% of the airflow through my aftermarket radiator. With my front mount turbo my car ran what I feel is warm ( 220- 225*). Going to E85 helped and doing hood vents helped as well. I think it runs right around 200*.

trackspec vents helped mine as well but the procharger race intercooler is not THAT expensive and guys on here have made >1400whp so do it once and do it right imo. I'd either get the ECS one for $600 or whatever or if you want to make >1k whp then go with procharger race with 4" outlet. just my 0.02

interesting, I ran the treadstone TRST9, opened up the front license plate, didn't see a change in coolants temps, no shroud, stock radiator, south florida.
