Torque Converter Confusion
My car is a twin turbo 2000. Questions:
1. What is the best TC for 500rwhp?
2. What brand is the best to buy?
3. Must drive and feel like a stock TC?
4. Any affect on gas mileage?
5. What if I increase HP?

I think the general consensus is that Yank is the best.
More torque = higher stall speeds. Yes it will hurt the gas mileage, but who cares its all about the performance!

Ive had 4 converters, Yank was NFG, PATC was NFG, Stock was OK,
but
the Vigilante from precision is the best ever. Drives better than stock and gets the power down.
that's my 2 cents.

for 500 hp at the tires you don't really need much
I have a TTix tt car making 800 at the tire and it's a Precesion multi disk lock up.
any of the lockup convertors will give you the same gas mileage as stock as there is no slippage once locked up.
however, above about 600 or so you want to think about the multi disk lockups
will it drive like stock, well, for the most part yes!! I have a 3200 stall and it fells "tight at light throttle" and allows a bit of slip under high torq to get up on boost
only thing I notice is that the multi disk lockup can be a bit harsh at lower speeds so a delayed lockup of 50+ programmed into the tranny tune helps
don't skimp on an el cheapo converter at high hp, but honestly at 500 RWHP a single disk convertor and 2800 or close to stock stall speed will give you more "stock driving" characteristics.
hope this helps.

My Precision is not what I am used to, when I had an 80's camaro with I think a 2800 stall it was laggy as hell and had to rev to get it moving. The one I have now is a 3000 and as rk stated mine drives just like stock but mash the gas and it slips right into the power, mine seems a little loose at full boost but I just lock it under wot top of second. If I was buying it for your car, it would be a 2800-3200 single disk lock up.

Seems to work fine at my power level, not sure about yours haha. But through some conversation with precision, I felt the converter was to loose at high boost, his reply was the converter is designed to slip and also designed to lockup so once the car gets moving good, lock that bitch he said haha. I've got it locking about 70 mph now. Still not turned it up past 14.5 lbs and traps 141 with that. I would think being locked up would also help the trans live, but might be wrong at that.
