Default Boosted ls1 power limit?

Alright guys.. I'm looking at buying a 98 vette with 63k miles.
It's got a v3 ti running 10-11 lbs of boost. 2004 pcm, 6spd, Cam, ported heads, headers, alky dual meth, etc. Stock internals, only has arp head bolts and rod bolts.
Car was tuned by handheld, so no dyno numbers, but I'm guessing 600-650ish whp?
Set up has been on car for 1,500 miles.

My question is, what can the ls1 handle? Should I put a bigger pulley on and just hope it doesn't blow? I'm just a little weary because of the power level. The car will just be a DD that I have a little fun with while cruising around.

Thanks guys

Also, what would be a decent price to buy this car for?

I know you don't want to hear this but will go until you get a rod out the side are you drop a valve.

A motor is only as strong as its weakest part in the motor. Every motor is diff.. Robert

I hope it was remote tuned with a handheld. A handheld got no business tuning a cam and boosted car. What size pulleys are on the car?

If you just want a nice DD for cruising around I'd say look for something with less mods. You have to be really careful with a car like that. A lot of times you are buying someone else headache. Just being honest.

And I don't like to buy used C5's unless they are '01 or newer. Several reasons why, but too much to detail here, lol.

I think you would be better off buying a stock 2001 up c5 and adding a blower keep it around 8psi.boost and just enjoy the tune is the key to keeping the motor.

I ate #7 at 14lbs. My Car made 565 RWHP. H/C/I on pump gas with meth through an automatic trans. Obviously there's no magic number of power or boost pressure. With a good tune it may last years or kick a rod on the dyno... My advice would be start putting away money for a short block

There is not a set #. If it was tuned good you can worry less but you could still get bad gas, bad injector bad fuel pump and trash it. Always be prepared for a blown motor with FI.

There's a member that ran 9.16 on a stock bottom end and heads.

I'm running H/C/I/FI on a '98. I've broken every rule with respect to AFR and timing. Every motor is different.

I'm curious what that #'s based on.

is it not this same car??... https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...-opinions.html ... if so I am pretty sure this is the car that the poster above me built and tuned so I would not worry at all about the quality of work, I personally saw what went into it... that being said, you could blow one up with 2psi just as easy as 10-12psi, you just need to understand that you are playing with fire... just put good parts into it, make sure the work is done right, get a good tune, and it will live for awhile

I had no idea that was one of my customer cars until you said something. Small world.

That car ran great when it left my hands and I continued to get updates on it for a while. I'm guessing he's selling it because they're expecting. They discovered that between the time he dropped the car off and when picked up the car.

The owner is a great guy. I'm sure you'll be happy with the car and the build if you decide to buy it.

stock, probably around 650-700 at the tire, forged bottom end, the block will likely take around 800-900

people routinely push beyond that, and I think if you run a reasonable rpms and really good fuel or e85 you "might" be lucky

I've been pushing 800 at the tire with a ttix kit and the car runs pretty good but I run it at 600 at the tire most of the time and don't track the car often.

how you drive it and the tune make all the difference

that being said I've got a forged iron block motor ready to swap in as soon as my forged ls6 goes boom or I decide to go to a more suicidal power level

I was pretty certain it's a car I had seen over there before

pretty sure he had well over 10k in it when it was all said and done... there were boxes upon boxes upon more boxes of high quality parts that went into that car from what I saw... and you know the tune and install was done right, so assuming the owner hasn't tampered with anything that car should live as long as it's capable of living

Do you remember if any internal work was done & what the car dyno'd?
I was told all it has is arp rod bolts and head bolts.

Thanks!!
