Default Timing chain - single vs double

Going to be doing a F/I install on a 58,000 mile C5. Will be Paxton 1500, max 10 PSI, stock bottom end, 6,200 RPM limit. Using 317 heads with Tooley .660 lift Platinum springs. Baby cam with intake - low 220's Exhaust - high 220's.

You F/I guys that have been through some engines - do I need to go to a double roller timing chain or will a good single be OK? Which ever way you lean, what is a good quality budget set brand?

Thanks in advance.

So, quite new engine...
Low boost...
Stock rpm limit...
Overkill spring (this baby cam never will touch the 660 lift)...
A brand new LS2 will be perfect
My 2 cents

Personnaly have more miles, more boost (18psi), more CI (LS1 stoker), all forged, more cam (640 lift range), more rpm (have hit le limiter and seen +7400rpm for last +200feet on 1/4m drag strip because ****ing 4th gear dont pass), and i'm fine with LS2 chain
I know i push the limit on some parts (LS1 block, T56, rear and axle....), but i'm not stressed about the chain

After having a Comp double roller start to come apart on me I'll never stray away from stock gears and CxR chain. Not worth the hassle.

Don't remember the brand but I used a double roller when I did my H/C on my car several years back, it also gave the option to advance or retard the cam.
I will also say I've replaced many factory T/C sets that failed but never found a failed D/R. I would suspect Bill's problem came from a failed damper.JMHO

I don't care for double rollers, regardless of the manufacturer. I've seen the LS2 chain fail more than once. F/I regular, PeetyZ actually called me from the side of the road once to help diagnose his issue remotely and it was his LS2 chain with less than 20kmi on it. I actually started a big write-up on timing chains. I'm going to be offering a chain not seen before that is designed to withstand far more than any of the chains currently on the market. I'll start the sale as soon as I have time to manage it.

The picture of the three chains: Top one is a C5R, middle one is C7R and the bottom is mine.
Tumble polished billet steel gears, black oxide coated.

OP, let me know if you're interested in one.

I'd be interested if available within the next month or so. My new setup will be together by then hopefully.

I have seen and installed this chain Blownbluez06@RKTPerformance has. It's certainly much more robust than anything out there that I have seen for these engines.

Nice Brett I remember us talking about it, didn't know you were going this extreme on the chain. Look very beefy! I like it.

I am currently running brets chain on my beast with the new timing gears. the lower sprocket has little dots in it for advancing and retarding your cam. It is very robust and is actually pretty tight compared to other single chains on the market. very impressed !!!!

That chain looks beast Brett. What dampener you are runing plays a roll in timing chain life.
Here is a podcast with the owner of ATI and he talks about dampeners in it. Good info. For one I didn't realize the dampener for truck motors or vettes was internal different and setup for different rpm.
