Default New Build: Forged 370, ECS 2200-SL, RPM TR6060 and more

Last year we completed this build https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...200-build.html I was happy with the power (700rwp 63xtq on 12lbs) but my T56 was not At the last ½ mile event in Sept 2015, I was having issues with my RPM T56 and decided at the first on the year I would fix it or replace it. A few months later I got my hands on a RPM Lv6 TR6060 Lv 6. While removing the transmission I ended up selling my LS6 and decided to build a motor. The order for the motor was placed on the first week of March and should be arriving in the next week or so. My goal for this build is to have a 1000hp street car and run in the 190mph range at the ½ mile events. All work and tunning is being done at LSXPERTS in Ball Ground, GA.

Parts list consist of:

Fuel

• Holley Billet Fuel Regulator
• Custom Fuel Lines
Alky Dual Nozzle Methanol Kit

I'll update the thread with pictures once I get back to the shop. As for now here is a few.

This is what started the whole build . In order to make the RPM TR-6060 work in the C5Z without swapping to a C6z cradle RPM resplined the pinon gear from 28 to a 31 spline.

Painted LS3 Intake

After talking to Doug about my goals he advised me that I might need to go up to the 2200R or the YSI in order to reach my goals. This build has broke the bank and for now we are going stick with the SL and see what it can do.

Holley Fuel Pumps and regulator. We will be running both Holley pumps + the stock pump on this build.

Monster LT1-R Clutch. Installed this on the previous build and loved it! Will be reusing it as it is still in great shape with only 2,000 miles.

Picked up some 315/40/18 Nitto NTO5R in hopes of being able to get some sort of traction. I plan on doing a 15in conversion later on.

Good hunting with the new build, and thanks for mentioning this shop. I live just up 515 near Jasper, and have been running a C5R block based 427 with an F1C Procharger for a few years that needs some updating. I'll take a ride over there to see what they recommend.

Nice build man. It'll be a blast!!!

Speaking from experience, I hope you plan on upgrading to a C6Z rear soon. I ran a 6060 with a c5 diff and still broke 2 diff cases. Lucky enough it didn't damage the trans. No issues since going c6Z diff.

Lots going on there...but how many similar vehicles are running 190+ in the half with only 1000hp ?

I think it'll take a lot more.

You might be right, I just like to set high expectations

I believe it will come down to what gears I run. With the stock 3.42 gears I believe I'm going to be in the mid to high 180's. If I switched to a 3.15 that should put me in the 190-195mph range. But again I could be wrong.

Looking at results from recent events...it looks like 1000hp is getting people into the low 180mph range

At a guess maybe another 2-300hp or so to get into the 190+ range

nice! really curious to hear your thoughts on how the tr6060 is compared to the t56. I'm on a built stageV RPM Built t56 and will likely upgrade to some zr1 geared tr6060 at some point.

Sounds good! Good luck with the build! On a base 2200 with your setup, I would expect 165-175mph. Should make 800-850rwhp on boost. Good luck!

The ones I've seen from a standing half mile that hit 190 are more in the 1200rwhp range. I can only think of one 427, YSI + nitrous build in that area, "Got Juice". He's a seasoned vet of LSR events. However, with new venues of half mile racing popping up, my friends and myself keep talking about how cars with the same gearing/weight, etc are running the same MPH that cars were years ago with 200hp less, so you never know.

If you search some of the Wannagofast results pages and then google the various cars, 1200hp seems about right just to get into the 190's for something like a Vette.

Nice build!

The Wanna go fast VA event is awesome but the altitude will hurt you a bit. I was only making 12 psi when I normally make 15 I had some issues and broke a half shaft there but only got 154. In comparison I ran the omega 1/2 last year in may ( running it again this year) and ran 168 with C5Z gearing (same set up as wanna go fast). I make 715rwhp/605rwtq.

I am running again this year with same power but just put in a gforce/RPM t56 with C6Z 1-4 and Zr1 5th and 6th. I hope for 170+. You should be 180ish but I'm not sure in that altitude.

I'll let you know once it is in. My rpm t56 was shot and needing 4th-reverse rebuilt along with the main shaft needing replaced.

If i end up making between 800-850rwhp then you are correct. My buddies C6 grandsport had a built 390, a&a supercharger and nitrious and ran 178mph and I believe it was making right at 850rwhp. Then again if i only make 800-850 I'll be adding a drt kit sooner than i thought

Thanks and good luck on 170+hunt!
I only run 2 half mile events which are the GA and FL wannagofast events. I'm not sure on either ones altitude though.
With my last setup we ran 161.98 making 676 on 12lbs of boost and shifting into 5th about 150-200 feet out from the finish. My biggest problem is staying out of 5th gear. In order to do that i need to go to a lower gear.

Are you going to the May event in Ga or the Omega event?

Thanks! I will be going to the Omega in May and Wanna go fast in October (Indiana)

You should be good at the GA event. The VA one is on top of a mountain. Great views but not the best DA.

When I hit 168 on stock C5Z trans ratio I was pretty deep into 5th on a 27 inch tire with stock rear gear. You will still be in 5th crossing the trap now but with longer gears you will be in the boost longer before and should build more speed. 4th is 1 to 1 ratio in all the manual transmissions so it will depend on your rear end and tire size to go faster in 4th. you will be doing 160ish at the top of 4th

Whilst the very very big power cars do strangely seem to use only 4 gears and hit big speeds...not really sure everyone should strive to use 4 gears.
I guess they do so as traction is easier that way.

I'm done around 150mph at the 1/4 on an airfield in 4th ( heavier and less aero than a vette ) and when racing 1km, 5th will take me anywhere I need to go.
It does 194mph in 1km in 5th and about 183mph at the 1/2.
Without better traction I doubt it would do much better, as it starts spinning the wheels a little again around the 1/2 as car must start to lift a bit.

I've the standard old T56 with the 0.74 and 0.5 5th and 6th. Makes 5th ideal for speeds and still a nice lazy 6th for cruising.

I'd think the car would be terrible to drive if it was geared to hit 200mph in 4th !

1000-1100RWHP I truly feel is what is needed in a PERFECT SETTING in a corvette to hit 190mph in the half. Unfortunately, every runway I have been to is slick so applying the power in a RWD car is easier said than done(why we see 1300rwhp cars doing 190-200mph in the half). It depends on the track,...last few I went to have been in Florida...and it's always slick. I have been in relatively low powered cars,...all hitting 5th gear well before the traps. Georgia, seems to have the higher top speeds that I have seen, and better track surface. Best wishes on your venture, goals. I'll be rooting for you!

It's been a busy couple weeks with moving and work but I finally made it to the shop and found that the motor had arrived and was in the process of being installed. Here is a few pics, nothing to crazy.

One of my favorite cars at the shop! Motor, Twins and a Powerglide. Making 1100+rwhp on 18lbs
