I can build them/program these if a few guys want them and aren't interested/able to do the assembly?

I'm going to mess with it some in a second and see about coming up with something simpler that will just be an Arduino mini board and those LED strips
I didn't notice that but i might buy it and see if my buddy wants to attempt it, if not depending on what you'd charge i might have you do it.

I got one of my boards programmed with the code at the link you posted, so that is a good first step.

I think buying that kit will be the simplest way to get it going. I'll play with it some more tomorrow, I need some sleep. I don't know if the boards come already programmed with that kit or what? I'm assuming so

Yep, that's it. Hard to beat that IMO... I can order a few and assemble them for a few bucks if anybody wants them. I already got a few PM's about it.

I got a message from that guy that sells them and he said he had 2-3 more DIY kits available. He sells assembled/tested ones for I think it was $169. I'd be a little cheaper but he also can be 100% sure they're working

If you want me to order one let me know or you could order it from him direct already assembled, then just extend the wires to the lights however you needed to to make them work for where you end up mounting them

Order that ****(please).

I can paypal you money tonight, tomorrow, whenever. Do what you gotta do to it, i'll pay you for your time.

Unless of course it is as simple as buy it, take out of box, extend a wire or two...then that is indeed something I can do. If it is more to it, like software related...i'd rather send it to someone that has the knowledge.

Thanks again for your time.

I'm going to order the already assembled one first, I think with it all you have to do is connect power/RPM signal and turn a **** or two and it'll work. I want to see how complicated this thing ends up being before I order the DIY one. $100 for assembly could be a lot or a little depending on how hard it is to put together

I'm about 95% sure you just give it power, a tach signal, tell it what RPM's you want the lights to go on at, and then it just works.. no programming or anything else required with the assembled one.

We will know soon enough!

I ordered one of the DIY kits. Didn't look hard to assemble at all, so let's see how bad it can be to get it to work.

Thanks for the heads up on this one -- been wanting a better shift light on the drag car.

Yeah, it shouldn't be too bad to put together

I can't wait to see what you guys get it to do.

I almost bought and arduino, had it in my basket at least 7 times now. Just too much stuff going on to get into it yet.

I have been playing with making a sequential shift light in the HUD using lower tech ideas, and other ridiculous ideas as well I am trying to do. Going through trial and error currently and cutting stuff up for fun.

With the LED's mounted on that rail, they will shine up above the top of the hud readout. They will not be projected out to the font of the car as the hud does. They will also have a ghost image.

Also consider the mirror in the hud has a blue film on it, which will turn every color to a shade of blue. If you mount the LED's just below the VFD read out on that black housing. It will give it the projection in front of the car, and the lights should be pretty close to focused there. but they will be blue, and possibly magnified larger then you might want..

Also wanted to throw this up here. years ago a guy on here put his radar detector in his hud. He took the pics down but I found them.

He ran the wires down the bottom over the circuit and out the same place as the main HUD harness

This is what it looked like.

Tight work Bill.

I'm glad I made this post. Looks like lots of people want this. Love the radar detector idea/location. I'm a K40 and escort dealer so I always appreciate seeing the custom installs.
