This thing is so cool. I think i had "activate" set at 1700 and shift at 2000, just because that worked easy enough with the freq I was getting

I've got a plug and play harness put together that will make installation painless and require no cutting or splicing to the factory harnesses, it's totally reversible. It doesn't have a connection for the lights.. that is the only thing missing.
Is there any interest in something like this? I can put a few more together if there is
I need to test it first but I think it'll work

I'll add up what the connectors cost after I have a chance to test it and make sure it works.

Originally connected to one of the coil wires to try to get tach signal (and power) and it wasn't working right.. worked for a second or two then would stop. I added a pull up resistor tonight and that seems to have gotten it working. It reads a little bit too high at low RPM's for some reason? I'm going to play with resistor values a bit tomorrow and see if that changes anything.

You do have it set for 4 cylinder mode correct?
Or does that not apply with taking the signal directly from a coil pack?

It's off by like 10%, so doesn't seem like it would be that. Over 1K RPM's it seems accurate
I'll hook it up tomorrow and play with it. The available settings for this actually have more options than I had thought.. I'll see if that will fix it.

Got it working. You guys were right.. I think it was set for 6 cylinder, changed it to 8 (actually as 3 vs. 4 pulses per revolution) and it works right now. I think the signal still isn't perfect--need to try some other resistor values, but it seems to be working. I had the shift points set low obviously so I didn't look like a crazy person revving my car up, but you get the idea. If I can get the right resistor value figured out I'll make some harnesses up that will make it plug and play.

Bought a bunch of resistors last weekend but haven't had a chance to try different values yet--hopefully will have time this weekend if I don't melt from the heat

Think I got it figured out. And damn it's hot outside. I kept having problems with it responding fine at low RPM's / slow throttle changes but would stop reading RPM if I hit the throttle more quickly.. which obviously is an issue given the point of this thing. I think I got the right resistor values now as it seems to work pretty well. I have to pull my HUD out to fix it anyways, so I'm probably going to try installing this inside of there when I do that (maybe next weekend--too hot today/tomorrow)
Only issue I'm seeing is the last two lights on the LED strip get stuck on sometimes--not sure why.
I'm going to mess with it a little more to be sure then make up a plug and play harness with a pull up resistor built in. It basically just plugs in between one of the coils and the coil wiring harness which makes it fairly easy, though if there is a tach signal somewhere in the cabin it may be easier to just get it there instead.
I ended up with 2 - 2.2K resistors in parallel, so 1.1K ohms total. I couldn't find a 1K and this seemed to work well so I left it like that.

Video. Can hardly hear engine over the HVAC fan blasting but you get the idea

Had my HUD apart for a separate issue.. decided to try to put these LED's inside of it. Going to try it tomorrow but it just might work. It's just under the projector itself.. the adjustment mirror moves the lights from these around like it should, so it might work. Biggest concern is whether they will be too visible when not on.
