What other parts did you modify to make your Vette handle the 🐎 power? Rear, Tranny, Suspension, brakes ect....
Thanks.

Are C6 Z06 brakes needed or will Hawk pads upgrade be good enough?

I don't think they are really necessary, I mainly did it to fill in the wheel area... they look good but the rotors are heavy as hell

I have c6z brakes with Hawk dtc-70/60 pads and it stops great. They dust a lot with street use but you can't beat the stopping power for the price.

I had to beef up the trans, diff, and torque tube with a solid and a six shooter coupler.

Ran stock MN6 for years(removed it at 120k-still original-still good-it's currently in a race car)...I have sheered the torque tube bolts off the back section, replaced that, then installed 300m right shaft and C6 Z06 clutch packs,...broke pinion...now using TR6060 ZR1 built trans, stock 2012.5 C6Z06 diff, DSS torque tube. Stock axles. Haven't really tested new setup. I have had 6 different clutch setups, now running a tilton triple carbon. Stock brakes upgraded but I have a set of Z06 calipers to use at some point but...would like to go to Wilwood.

I'd say a lot has to do with what you plan on doing with that 800 RWHP.

If you do plan on having some fun with it, then you will need to do some upgrades, and depending on how much fun and what tires you run, additional upgrades will be needed as well.

Let's say you are just one of those guys that gets a thrill getting up to speed quickly on a onramp, vs someone who wants to launch at 4 or 5K at the drag strip, then you don't need near as many upgrades on the drivetrain.

On the other hand, if you are a FOOL like me, LOL, who actually like to utilize the costly power he's come up with, and enjoys going to the roadcourse, runway, and loves hitting the Canyons, putting down as much power as possible, with R compounds on the street and slick on the road course, then do a Bunch of upgrades.

My experience, is that if you like the power and try and use it without doing the upgrades, you will brake **** until you do ALL the proper upgrades...

The GOOD news is that once you have done ALL the proper upgrades for what it is you like to do, it's possible to actually have some fun, does not mean that a heavily modded car won't need constant attention, but in my case the following upgrades have been very helpful to do the types of things I like:

Forged/dry sumped motor with VERY custom one off fuel system with coolers, and Pfadt motor mounts.

Mcleod RXT 1200 clutch Z06 driveshaft with solid coupler IN REAR, Build tranny and Quaife diff, external brace and Pfadt tranny mount, both have cooler.

T-1 swaybars, Pfadt coilers, and Brembo brakes.

I could go on, but there are a few of the upgrades,

Good luck!!

My C6Z diff is stock. Car isn't a drag car and doesn't see hard launches, so a stock one should be fine, and has been for a few years.

Back when I worked for GM I did a lot of research on diffs. There has been several C6 Z differentials they have produced, even mid flight of certain model years. The latest design seems to be the best, which from my understanding was the mid 2012 model year. I am sure it's possible for a change that I may have missed but, it seems an upgrade or two happened mid 2012. Theres several part numbers to back this up.

My installed 2012.5 diff is bone stock.

My Driveline/suspension item mods:

C6Z shocks
Stoptech performance Pads
Hinson poly Motor and Trans mounts
DSS carbon fiber drive shaft
Gforce T56 (C6Z 1-4, ZR1 5-6th ratios)
DTE built dif
DTE Trans/Dif brace
RXT Clutch
NT05R Drag Radials
STOCK Halfshafts. Rather keep these as a "weak point" and would rather break these over just about anything else in the driveline.

Could I just buy a kit and upgrade the C5 diff to C6Z?

Kit includes:
1. 2pcs side cover o-rings
2. 2pcs side cover seals (new C6 design, won't leak like the old style C5 design seals)
3. 1pc C5 rear cover o-ring
4. 1pc Trans to Differential seal
5. 2pcs C6 Z06 diff spider hard gear (left and right)
6. 2pcs diff spider hard gear snap ring
7. 1pc C6 Z06 differential RH shaft
8. 1pc C6 Z06 differential LH shaft
9. 2pcs C6 Diff Hard spring GM part # 7057
10. 2pcs C6 Z06 Carbon clutch pack (Upgrade from the C5 Z06 bronze clutch)

Someone e-slap me if I'm off base here but the actual diff housing has a lot to do with it. Probably easier and cheaper in the long run to just do an entire swap.

Diff mounting locations, are the key issues for why the diff breaks. Look out the single, badly positioned mount on the C5 diff...it's like trying to hold a large drink tray above your head with your feet close together.

A c6 diff, would be the same large drink tray but, you can base your legs so you have a better stance, not easily toppled over.

Once that driveline twists,...it has nothing to help it with that twist(the C5 doesn't)....the C6...has those mounts on the sides of the diff...helping counter that. When all else is questioned, GM...through years of engineering the C5....engineered the C6 driveline....based on the issues found in the C5. A C5 diff mount is available to help this twist if you don't want to switch over to the newer style C6.

I had some clutch issues with a stiff single disk clutch and needed to do a rear gear change so RPM hooked me up with a 4L65 auto swap on the zo6 made the power much more accessible and easy to control on the turbo car love the stick, but the auto worked well for me this time.

turbos and the multi disk lock up clutch allow the turbos to spool a bit faster and stay on the boil
