Default No intercooler and E85

Who's running with no intercooler? I'm not new to this. Just want to see who's doing it on an LS with E85. What do your EGT's look like?

Are they running E85? Stock compression? Any idea how much boost? EGT?

Thanks.

SUPERCHARGED Z06 on here was back in the day when me and him were one of the only guys running E85. He had pretty good success with it. I've been meaning to on my car forever just haven't gotten around to it.

I think it would work well on a drag car...

I talked to him many times about IAT on E85 and told me that that's not an issue with that fuel. If i remember correctly he was running 17-19 lbs of boost. I believe we are talking about the same guy. He has sold it and moved on from vettes. He told me he's traveling a lot since he's retired if that's the same guy.

It would be interesting to see a study on IAT vs. EGT with and without an intercooler and using different fuels. Adjust the tune to where the power output is the same for each case but see if the EGT temps vary. Then push the limits of the tune for max power and see where the EGTs and power curve end up for each combo.

Use the same engine and power adder then:

TEST 1 - Record IATs, EGTs, and max power
E85 with intercooler
E85 without intercooler

TEST 2 - Record IATs, EGTs, and max power
93 Octane and meth with intercooler
93 Octane and meth without intercooler

TEST 3 - Record IATs, EGTs, and max power
Race gas with intercooler
Race gas without intercooler

Has anyone seen any data along these lines?

I run E85 with great results but it's with a Maggie at 7 psi. On the dyno there was no heat soak to speak of. All 5 pulls when it was tuned were done consecutively and were within 5-10 hp of each other. The car also runs cooler with coolant temps rarely getting above 207 unless I'm on it.

I guess the question is why wouldn't you run an intercooler? You will get lower IATs with an intercooler and should pic up power not matter what fuel you are running (other than 100% meth).

Save space, save weight, save myself headaches from cooling issues...

What cooling issues? If Katech can build a supercharged vette that can road race then for anything else it cant be an issue! Low speed cooling is just down to incufficent fan. High speed cooling issues are because people seem to forget that you actually have to force air through a radiator otherwise it will go around it. Look at the size of the cooler that Sinister in the C6 section uses. He races mile events and doesn't seem to have issues with cooling.

If it's drag racing for street duty I can't see the issue.

Sorry to sound harsh but dumping the intercooler just seems like you are leaving power on the table and for not too many disadvantages!

The car has a
6.2L with a 91mm turbo. Making more power than I know what to do with should not be a problem. It's hot as hell in Texas, and I'll take the car out and beat on it regularly..

If it can do what I need it to do with no cooler, and I don't see any reason to install one.
