Never seen a fast manual Cobra(Sn95 to 03) work. 8 second 6 speed vettes do happen tho. Lots of work, and expensive parts but it happens.

Agreed, most end up stuck in the 9's at best. Do a well thought out auto swap and it becomes a whole different car.

As far as fast stick Vettes, I've seen it with them and Vipers, but obviously the drivetrain parts required become a pretty big compromise between performance and driveability. If you drove my Cobra, you wouldn't know it wasn't a car you just bought off the showroom floor that was bone stock until you mashed the go pedal, but everyone has different goals.

Monster has a ton of options that have been proven at that power level. We've got a sale going on this month to save you some money if you've not already purchased.

Just a heads up, I have a brand new RPS triple carbon for sale in the classifieds for a very reasonable price if you are considering that type of clutch.

Not including the price of the car, what's a good all in cost to run 8s reliably in a full weight C5 corvette.

Reliably - means more than just one pass in the 8s

Full weight - still has A/C, radio, interior, etc.

probably 40k.

15-20k in the drivetrain. ( clutch, converter, auto, manual, diff, carbon shafts.)

10k in the motor

10k on boost supplies. (boost controller, fuel system, bov, wastegate, turbo, blower, etc)

The 4L60 and 4L80 transmissions don't seem to be reliable at 1000rw. because if you really use them, they need a rebuild every season. The 6L80 also hasn't proven reliable for big power and you would need a different computer to control it for a C5. The 6L90 seems to be capable, but it only fits the cts-v. I think one or two shops are experimenting with putting 6L90 guts in a 6L80 case. The powerglide swap for a C5 is $15k to $20k. Not interested in spending more for the drivetrain than the car is worth.

I'm liking the clutch so far. It is slightly stiffer than the regular RXT. I haven't had any great launches at the track yet but will report back soon. I'm still sorting out minor issues with this build.

Ive been running around for the last 3 years at 1000whp on a Mantic Twin and that clutch never gave me a second of issues. Its currently out of the car and Mantic requested photos of it, according to them based on the photos and measurements I sent them it still has half its life left. I would highly recommend their clutches as the product and customer service is beyond reproach.

I was actually thinking of listing that clutch for sale if anyone would be interested as my build just turned a corner that far exceeds the capacity of that clutch.
