Default New Build, 371" ECS Novi 2500, 2003 Z06

I guess I should start a build thread. My life with regards to cars and racing has taken a back seat. I've been driving 400 miles south to South Padre Island and 400 miles back each week for the last 3-4 years. I bought this car a few years ago from a guy in St. Louis, built by Dave Steck and CBI. Had an aluminum 346 in it. Flew out, picked up the car, and drove it home. Had it dynoed first with the AF before I drove the car 900 miles home. Put down a respectable 820ish.

So, I fly out, pick the car up, and drive it home. Tested the meth, checked the tank, all was good. Didn't really want to stab it until I crossed in to Texas in case I broke the car, plenty of guys and shops in the DFW I could leave the car with. Made a few hits. Boost hit 22-24psi, car pulled decent, really a top end car. AFR was showing 11.0 ish if I remember correctly. So, I made a few pulls that day without keeping much of an eye on the AFR.

Drove it to the track(1/8) the day I got home, luggage and all on 345/30-19 Nitto NT05r's. I just wanted to make one hit, not launching the car with no sidewall. Just a low rpm slip on a 1.8 sixty and the car trapped 114.x in the 1/8. Thought that was about 3-4mph too low. Popped the hood, looked at the meth tank, empty. Drove home, refilled the meth tank, and figured my hits had drained it though my previous experience should have told me otherwise. So, the next day, I fill the tank up with meth, manually test it at idle to see if it kills the engine, which it did. Made a bunch of pulls with friends. Motor starts smoking, get home, open the meth tank, empty. Pulled the motor, cracked the block.

Motor #2. An off the shelf built 6.0 motor from an un named company. Lost a few rings on a rich tune. Found a few cheap parts as Chris Stewart did when he tore the same motor down. The first pull on that motor was 887rwhp but the clutch wasn't liking the stingy dyno, so we decided to not push it anymore on the dyno.

Motor #3. Has been built and just sitting in a bag for a couple months. This is 6.0 worked a little bit with no expense spared besides the stock crank. After seeing a few after market cranks fail, and not having a factory one fail at level, saw no point.

My buddy owns a shop and is well known for LS swapping different cars as well as big builds. My tools are at my riverhouse since I live in a Highrise and not allowed to work on vehicles. (Done with big shops and their BS). I'm layed up with the flu pretty bad, and he's a ways away from me. But he decided to swap it himself. Assembled the motor, fuel system, and blower in about 6 hours on Saturday. He was missing a blower pulley, and a few fittings to the oil pan. Got them today and the car cranked right up. I'm going to drain the old gas, pull the injectors and have them cleaned, and install a new meth pump.

I'll report back if I get some new numbers soon. The car is for sell and is fully built with no expense spared if you see the car and the parts on it. Just not sure I'm ready to sell it. Might get back in to it.

Then I'll clean up the engine bay to make it look clean again.

Good luck on the upcoming tune/dyno session. Glad you have it running again buddy... These things will test you, that's for sure.

What's your pulley combo and what kind of numbers are you hoping for?
Not too many guys with novi 2500 blowers.

Thanks Albert, are you coming to Houston for any quick 30 events? How's the car?

10% overdriven balancer/2.85 blower pulley. The car made 887 on its first pull with 116 and no meth running real fat, but then the clutch slipped. This was on a loaded mustang dyno on the last motor. I'm pretty sure that it would have made 900's and close to 1000 on a dyno jet if we turned on the meth and got it fully tuned.

I'm going to tune it this time for just pump+meth. I'd like to keep it real safe, so not really aiming for a number. Just street tuning it. I'm guessing it should be in the 800 range.
