Please Help me Choose best Rear Tires for my set up
Procharged LS6 with 3.42 gears automatic 4L60e
would MT 285/40/18 with larger side wall comes in at 26.9 diameter
or MT 305/35/18 @ 26.6 diameter
I want to utilize my gearing and have good traction. This is a street car stop light to stop light and occasional track use Thanks.
PS My rear wheel size is c5 zo6 18X10.5

I run the 285/40/18 Mickey Thompson SS street drag radials on my procharged C5 on 2009 zo6 spyder replica wheels ( 18x9.5) car is pushing about 520 rwhp tires dead hook up everytime no spin on track or on the street/ I went with the 285 because I wanted the taller sidewalls so they appeared to match front to rear and with my particular wheels the backspacing put the 285 right at the wheel well opening so no tire was extending outside of the body lines was the look I was going for.

I run the 285/40/18 Mickey Thompson SS street drag radials on my procharged C5 on 2009 zo6 spyder replica wheels ( 18x9.5) car is pushing about 520 rwhp tires dead hook up everytime no spin on track or on the street/ I went with the 285 because I wanted the taller sidewalls so they appeared to match front to rear and with my particular wheels the backspacing put the 285 right at the wheel well opening so no tire was extending outside of the body lines was the look I was going for.
Quick question: though, would the shorter 285 has less rolling resistance than say the 305, or does it make a difference. In Drag racing or street driving.

The 285/40/18 are actually taller than the 305/35/18 circumference is 26.9-26.6 respectively so the 285/40/18 most closely resembled the installed 275/45/18 that I had taken off thus they were inside the wheelwells and changed nothing as far as I can tell about speedometer or with the traction controls which it is my understanding can be an issue, though I have no first hand information about that to speak intelligently about. I can tell you I can stab the car on the street from a dead stop and it will not spin tires in any gear I'm thoroughly impressed with their performance I run 26 pounds of air on the street and 14 pounds at the track which is what Mickey Thompson recommended when I called them. One down side to the tires is that they are beyond soft to maintain that level of traction so they will wear out quickly figure 5k-8k and you will probably be looking to change them depending on how you drive the car and I've never had mine in the rain but my understanding is as long as you take it easy they do okay but it is something to be aware of. Hope this helps I'm in no way a tire expert but this is just my experience with these tires and I must say I'm impressed they do exactly what I Bought them to do.
