I know some guys say it doesn't matter as much with boost but you figure anytime you can remove turbulence you either gain or maintain airflow velocity which means more cfm into the combustion chamber at a given time. To me I figured it couldn't hurt and it gave me a chance to practice my porting and try something new.

Slow but steady progress. Heads are on and everything is ready on the intake. Just a few covers and oil pan gaskets and we got a complete long block.
LS9 gaskets, copper sprayed and ARP2000 studs.

You can always get away with a cheap ol scavenge setup in the headers. I mean if you really want to pull a vacuum on the Valve Covers on the cheap.

I'm curious why more don't modify the smog pump some way some how and use it as a cheap vac pump.

I use a catch can hooked up to manifold vacuum that catches most of the oil vapor and condensation during normal driving. The breathers are simply to relieve crankcase pressure when in boost. So far its been working.

Installed the motor the other day. Should be a day or two away from the first start up. Hopefully I'll have some cool video to share really soon. Also I figured it be a perfect time to install Improved Racing's oil baffle trap door mod for the two piece batwing oil pans.

Cool progress.

I didn't know IR made a baffle/trap door for the batwing pan... though it doesn't surprise me at all.

Fired her up and then spent the last couple days buttoning and cleaning things up.
Today I finally drove her home. No leaks and temps were good! Now to break in the new motor and get ready for tuning.
