No, not necessarily. I think it might come down to your tuners capabilities. what it makes on 94 octane and an a/a cooler before detonate begins. If he's happy with it then meth isn't necessary. If he wants to push the envelope then add meth.

Yup. A better foundation. I believe it's around 10.5:1 comp as well. That ls1 probably wouldn't like 700 RWHP for very long either. I burned a piston in my ls1 at 600 RWHP

Too easy to get carried away...500-550 at the wheels is PLENTY for a 3200LB vette driver.
(Although the Gen 4 aluminum L33 5.3 would be my budget 'gooder' engine )

Keep your eyes open for an L33 just in case to tuck away in the corner. This turbo stuff gets out of hand quickly. Lol. I got 2 solid years out of my ls1 at 565 RWHP and it was a blast.

No doubt lol
Hey, whats the clutch to get, there's everything from the $500 LS7 clutch to the $1000+ Monster ones. Again, 99% street car, Might put some DRs on and run it down the 1/4 on occasion. what about the "rearend" ? bracing etc.

The clutch is beyond me. I've got a level 7 4L65e. Crawl up under it an see if it has a 3 rib differential. That's a big plus. A couple vendors sell trans braces which are always recommended.

Depending on which gear it has, you will probably find that it's cheaper to find a 3 rib differential with a 3.42 gear is quicker and cheaper to swap out than changing a corvette diff gear set. I couldn't believe the cost from a rearend shop in Chicago. My car came with 3.15's and I got a 3 rib diff from a low mileage 03 Z06 for around $550.

Then I was able to sell my 3.15's to a guy running 1/2 mile events to recoup some money

That's the awesome thing, not only is he a class-A mechanic, he's also a car guy and a damn good fabricator, he's worked in Tranny shops, built motors, turbo kits, changed gearsets, can do awesome body work, etc. He'll definitely find the most cost-effective way to do things.

I just want to get it all figured out so when I get my C5, it'll be easy, 2nd nature !

I'm ALWAYS skeptical on dyno numbers when somebody posts a number which seems higher than normal. I always ask what is the cars ET. In lots of cases guys say they don't bring their car to the track. LOL

I agree, that sounds like a very "generous" dyno.
534/556 seems more realistic...and "even" that is outstanding. Any track et/mph ?

The stock engine lasted about 4.5 years and was over 800rwhp at the end. It would have lasted a very long time at the 500rw power level. It got me into the 9s with a 6-speed.

I think with the stock cam, I typically shifted around 6200 rpm.
