Issues the ECS kit with Innovative West 10% Overdrive Balancer
I have had my Novi 2000 kit for quite some time (and I love it) but was wondering if others have seen the same situation I have. The tensioner makes contact with the balancer when the belt is not in place obviously because it is larger than the stock damper. I guess I really didn't care until last year when the bearing failed on the tensioner, thus destroying the belt, then plunging the tensioner into the balancer, causing damage to the balancer.
I am also direct driving the blower on the setup (I use a flip drive for everything else) and have issues withe the Green Stripe belt sizing. With a 3in blower pulley i am stuck using a K08525HD because the K08514HD belt is impossible to get on. I even tried removing the blower to get the small belt to fit. IMO the larger belt seams a tad bit loose even with the manual tensioner maxed out.
I am thinking about solving my belt length issue (being too long is not good) and my tensioner/balancer issue by relocating the tensioner. Has anyone had similar experiences or have a better solution?

Melting Slicks
The tensioner bracket next to the balancer could be modified so the tensioner does not make contact. You simply need to drill a hole further to the left to prevent the tensioner from bottoming out or just call ECS to send you one. The kit you have was designed for a stock size balancer unless you specifically mentioned the 8" balancer.
As for the belt, 3" pulley with 8" balancer works with a 525 belt. I managed to get a 514 belt on...not easy, but can be done. Most power I made was with the 514 belt.

Here is the bracket you need, just make sure that your tensioner has two dowel pins. Our older tensioners did not, that was years ago but I don't know how old your kit is.
