Default New Intercooled Magnachargers and two Caravaggio Hoods

After reviewing RKSport, ACI, Caravaggio, Motor City, TigerShark, and SpectreWerkes, my two favorite hoods are the blower and high rise hoods by Caravaggio.

Do both hoods accommodate the new Intercooled Magnachargers?

Also,

Are there other hoods that I should check out?

I have a 6-speed 2001 NBM Coupe - I just want to make sure and get the best hood for the supercharger. I have a great guy in Austin who will do a perfect paint and install on the hood (Jeff's Auto Body & Paint on Lamar).

Who has installed the most Magnachargers in Texas? At the Magnacharger website they only list a Viper place in Houston (TNT or something like that) as a Texas dealer.

You need to go to 21st Century Muscle Cars in Dallas (Carrollton) for the install. Top notch shop and John Page is a great guy. As more people see this thread, you will see that they all agree on this.
My vote is for the Caravaggio blower hood, but then maybe I am influenced because I have one. ;)

Nightdoc,

Thanks for your advice!

I really like the Caravaggio blower hood. It seems to flow nicely with the curve of the fenders. The reason I think I like the Caravaggio high-rise hood better at this point is because it looks more stock with the centerline indention intact.

Do both hoods have similar clearance for the Intercooled Magnacharger?

I would love to see pics of your car with the blower hood!

So is 21st Century Musclecars in Carrollton the consensus top pick for Magnacharger install in Texas?

There is no need for you to leave Houston for your Magnacharger or your paint work. We have installed, by far, the most Magnachargers in Houston and will be happy to assist you in any performance plans you may have for your C5. Stop by and visit our facility or come speak with me personally. I also highly recommend Ritchie Collision for your paint work as they specialize in C5 paint work and have done nothing but outstanding work for us and Corvettes of Houston.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Jayson - MTI

Thanks Jayson. You were recommended on a PM also.

I need to update my profile. I now live in Austin and will be moving to San Antonio this summer, but I will go to Houston or Dallas to get the work done on my C5 if necessary.

Later

I just went through this process... I also liked the high rise, but it won't fit the mag. I talked to John at Caravaggio and he said that the hood just got too high to integrate the dimple into the buldge which is why he did the blower hood like he did....therefore I ordered the blower hood...

Hope that helps!

What sort of price range is Jeff's giving you? If you can say, I mean.

My rear bumper needs a paint. B&B wants lots of money. More than I figured it would be. And I'm considering leaving it messed up (it's very minor) until I've got the cash in place to buy a magnacharger and hood, in order to get the hood and bumper painted at the same time.

I strongly recommend 21MC in Dallas for your I/C S/C. LPE backs the system, they do a killer job. See my links on these boards. Go LPE. Call them and tell John Page I sent you if you like. At least talk to the guy about it. 21MC/LPE have an IMPECCABLE reputation. That can't be said for all tuners in Texas.

What was impressive to me during the courtship dance before we decided to go ahead was he actually talked me out of several mods that I asked about and told me to save my money for other mods. I don't know too many people who won't just sell you whatever you say you want rather than try to help you get the most for your dollar.

Regarding hoods, the answer is no, both Caravaggio hoods don't fit a S/C setup, only the blower one.

The other hood I recommend is not even QUITE available yet but you can get on the list for it....Motor City Molds has a new blower hood just going to the presses this week and fit and finish are superb from all accounts. I'm driving my car around hoodless willing to wait for it to show.

Feast your eyes:

Email me if you have a question. With some advanced notice, you could drive down and see and ride in my car if you want. Good luck with your choices.

Doug

Thanks for all of the advice and pics.

GG, Jeff painted both sides of my 2001 Coupe (actually about 2/3 of each side) and my car looks brand-new. He also fixed a small area of damage to one of the panels and buffed out some scratches on other parts of the car. The total cost was about $2,000. I would definitely let him write you an estimate. I can't imagine a better paint and body guy in central Texas.

I'm disappointed the Caravaggio high-rise hood won't accommodate the Magnacharger. I also like the RK Sport hood, but I've read complaints about fit and finish...
