Default Hood Seal Install Question

I'm installing the CEC front bumper chrome piece this week so, I removed my old hood seal last night. I got to looking, and really don't want to install a new seal on top of the chrome piece but do want the seal to help keep dust and dirt out. I was wondering, has anyone installed or tried to install the seal on the front underside of the hood instead of on the bumper. Looks like the hood hinges might rub some in the full hood open position but, you wouldn't be covering up your chrome piece with rubber. Any thoughts???
Thanks!

To be honest with you I don't think it keeps that much dirt out ( I have one) but...if you want to add something there I suggest you try going to HD and buy a smaller piece that may be able to mount along the edge where you want it

You won't gain as much HP if you install it on the hood. lol

The hood seal seems more trouble than it's worth (I have one).

The only reason I keep it is because it does add a proven 10-15hp, which like the vararam, doesn't show up in dyno runs because the car isn't moving.

I agree -- find a piece at Home Depot, and see if that will work.

Still have openings around the headlights that allow dirt/moisture in. I do believe it will keep the water off your modified air box though....at least from the top side.

Interesting idea. I would keep the seal for sure. I've seen the engine bay of a buddies without it and I will keep the seal. Post the results of the alternate placement.

I picked up a nice seal from Home Depot. IT is the Marine Automotive seal. It IS NOT the one in the bag for around $3. It is in a purple box and costs about $8. It was on the bottom shelf at my local Home Depot. It would be great for the underside of the hood. It is not like some that are circular and an open "O" or ring shape. It is lower in height and is square-ish in shape. It might work real well for you.

I installed it, last night, on the underside of the hood. It seems to fit OK, will install the chrome bumper piece and post a pic, won't know if it's a tight seal till I can get the car out-n-about, in Ohio, that might awhile...
