Default 4 Post Lift and Garage Questions

For those of you who own a 4 post hydraulic lift, I am looking for specs on what height is necessary to allow me sufficient clearance. Bottom car will be a F150 Lariat and top the vette. Also, any suggestions on the top brand lifts would greatly be appreciated. I have heard that Bend Pak was a decent brand. Thank you!

Most of the web sights that sell lifts give you the specs on every model. Mine is from autoliffters.com

I think you need at least 10' of claerance. But maybe more with a truck underneath?

I agree. I have one also and am very pleased with it. There won't be room for a F150 and a Corvette with a 10' ceiling. I have 10.5' and just barely have room for a Corvette and a Crossfire. Do the calculations in the website to confirm how much space you need.

I'm building a new garage and researching this also... Here is a link to the lift that has the highest clearance under the ramps at 78". I figured I need a 12' ceiling in my garage to accomodate the lift and vehicles...

10ft is not enough. 12ft is good.

12 foot walls sounds about right.
Standard garage = 6 foot 7 inches, Corvette on drive on ramps = about 54 inches. You could do it with lower walls but you'd need scissors trusses, and you'd to have the lift in the center of the garage.

My hoist just clears with a 12' ceiling.

Default Lifts

I CAN REFER YOU TO WWW.BENCO.COM THEY ARE LOCATED IN BISMARK NORTH DAKOTA, HECK YOU HAVE PROBABALY NEVER HEARD OF ND.
BOTTOM LINE I HAVE 2 OF THEM, THE CHEVELLE'S ARE ON TOP THE VETTE'S UNDER THEM.
HEIGHT IN MY GARAGE IS 12.8 BUT THE HEIGHT OF THE HOIST I BELIEVE 10 FT CELLING WOULD BE CLOSE OF COURSE THERE ARE DIFFERENT HEIGHTS THAT THE HOIST WILL STOP AT.
GOOD LUCK. DID I MENTION THEY LIFT 7000 LBS. I PAID 2195 EACH.

Dont forget that you can cut a tray opening into the ceiling of your garage big enough for the roof of the vette to fit up into when raised.
This adds much needed space.

Jim,

Quick question regarding your lifts. Did you purchase a sliding jack lift, like Banco's Pro-Jack or do you just use tube jacks on a jacking tray? Thanks.

I'm in the process of doing an addition on my garage right now. One of the pre-requisites is clearance for a 4 post lift. Also, my truck needs to fit in there, if necessary.

My truck is a 2005 GMC Canyon, with the factory "off-road" package. It sits 5.5 feet tall, plus 6-7" for the "thickness" of the ramps, plus the height of whatever car I want to also park in there. I think a 'Vette is around 4 feet tall, so that puts me around 11 feet of necessary height. The architect is designing for 12 feet, just to make sure...
