PART I - VB-1SPRO Quiet-Kote Aerosol Spray
First, a special THANK YOU to all of the forum members who have posted comments and how-to's on sound deadening.
I striped everything out of the back of my C-5 Coupe down to the bare whatever it is over the last few days as I had free time. The car got noisier and nosier as I drove it with less and lass of the interior carpet.
Today I removed the rest of the stuff and I had a great time thumping all of the different places with my finger and was amazed at the noise. Some places were like a drum head. No wonder our Vettes are so noisy inside.
As my first step, I sprayed the rear part of the interior with two cans of Quiet-Kote. After spraying I thought "OMG - The car is going to smell like an oil refinery forever." But after drying for about 4 hours, the smell was gone and the surface was completely dry and not sticky at all.
In the second photo you can see that I masked off the parts I didn't want to spray and hit the entire interior with two more cans.
After it dries tonight I will remove the masking tape and paper and allow it to bake in the South Carolina Sun all day tomorrow. Tomorrow night, I will start putting down Dyna-Mat.
More to come...

UPDATE #1 - The Next Morning
I went down to the garage this morning and removed all of the masking tape and paper. The Quiet-Kote is dry to the touch and not sticky. There was no smell in the garage after leaving a fan blowing on low speed into the hatch area over night.
I will be working at the SC Railroad Museum today so I will leave the car sitting in the sun to get hot. I hope that this will drive out any remaining volatiles from the spray coating so that I can start to install the Dyna-Mat tonight or tomorrow.
I am a bit concerned that because he Dina-Mat (and the Frost King) has an aluminum barrier, it could hold in the volatiles from the spray so that they would slowly leak out over the next several years, stink up the car, and drive me nuts!

UPDATE # 2 - The next evening
After the car sat in the SC sunlight all morning and into the afternoon today, it smelled like an oil refinery and the Quiet-Kote was slightly soft and sticky on the surface.
The car is sitting in the garage tonight with a fan blowing into the hatch and out the open windows and tomorrow morning I will start laying down the Dyna-Mat. The smell is gone and the Quiet-Kote is hard to the touch again.
It may turn out that spraying the Quiet-Kote inside the car was a bad idea. Only time will tell. I may have to live with some smell for awhile.
EatRice asked why I sprayed the Quiet-Kote on first and not on top of the Dyna-Mat. The best answer is that if you "thump" you finger horizontally along a wall, you can hear the "hollow" sound between the studs. The closer you get to the studs, the quieter your thumps become.
Spraying the Quiet-Kote directly onto the surface can be compared to adding a second layer of sheet rock inside your wall in full contact with the first layer. It is a uniform coating.
The instructions with the Dyna-Mat are very clear. The better and more consistent the contact of the Dyna-Mat with the interior surfaces of the car, the more effective it will be in deadening sound and vibration. The kit even came with a small, hard, 1" wide roller to force contact between the Dyna-Mat and the interior of the car.
The Quiet-Kote contact with the interior floor is 100%
If I don't do a good job rolling the Dyna-Mat down on the floor of the car and only have it in contact over 75% of the surface, then spraying Quiet-Kote on top of the Dyna-Mat would only be 75% effective.
As I said earlier, it may not have been a good idea to spray the Quiet-Kote inside the car. Another possible issue is that the Dyna-Mat may not bond well to the Quiet-Kote. I don't think this will be a problem because the material is similar. I will find out for sure tomorrow.

As you can see in the photo below, I just started installing the Dyna-Mat, also known as Fat-Mat.
The black stuff under the aluminum cover of the Dyna-Mat sticks great to the Quiet-Kote. There is the possibility that when the car sits in the sun and bakes a bit that the bond may fail between the Dyna-Mat and the Quiet-Kote. Only time will tell.
My free advise - Don't spray the Quiet-Kote inside the car.
I have determined by scientific finger thumping that the deep well in the center of the rear needs the most help so I plan to add several layers of the Dyna-Mat there and everywhere else where I get a "hollow" sound when I do the finger thump.
Again, the Dyna-Mat instructions emphasize the importance of getting a good bond. In the photo you can see the little roller that came with the kit and it works nicely.
I am cutting strips, placing them in place and them pressing them down with my fingers to get rid of air spaces. Then I roll them with the roller. I may rebuild the roller with a bigger handle. It was surely made for midgets.
It is already so hot and humid in the garage that sweat is dripping off my nose as I work. I am going to disconnect a few of the A/C ducts in the ceiling of the garage and let the cool air into the garage. I am sure that this will help.
Red Dog is helping me and asked me to pass on her best wishes for sunny days and clear roads to all of you.

Keep plugging away! And thanks for sharing your project. I'm in the garage and starting to drip too. I'm building a custom sub box and getting tired of sanding and cutting. I lack 3/8" in clearance for easy removal of the rear cover so back apart she comes . . .
I'll be anxious to hear about the quiet-kote final results as sound deadener and some damp proofing are in my future.
Hang in there.

After 3 hours of work, I still have not completed the large well in the center rear.
There are so many small nooks and holes that it just takes time. I plan to have at least 2 layers of Dyna-Mat everywhere. It will probably end up closer to three.
I am still using the finger thump test and the improvement with two layers is amazing.
This section is the worst but I will continue to cut, stick, and roll.
Glad to see the hit counts rising on this thread. It is fun to share both successes and frustrations.

Keep up the good work.
We are all very interested in your project.
I have been eying the Quiet-Kote product for a while but have not seen too much posted on it so, I have been waiting.
I would also be interested in a final bill of materials when all is done.
