AC Delco battery died. Have some questions.
Left the console light in my car on, and it drained the battery in 6 hours. . Anyways, I went out and bought an EverStart to replace it. Question though is more CCA better? I had three choices for batteries, all the same price, I didn't know which one to buy, so I just bought the one with the most amps. Is this a good idea?
Thanks.
Thanks.

CCA being better usually depends on whether you're running a lot more than stock equipment i.e. upgarded stereo amp, video sceens, etc.
I have the Optima Yellow Top with 770 CCA for my gadgets.
I don't see why it would hurt to have more CCA? I think you did good

At 70 bucks I doubt it was anything special.

A/C DELCO Battery
I now consider A/C DELCO batteries junk! I just incountered a problem with one of the side post 78 in our 02 Silverado Diesel. A side post leak causing damage (total lost) to the battery cable, pan and anything else it leak on. Being a GM guy I consider the 7 year warranty would be honored. The GM Dealership disagreed and after looking up A/C DELCO on the Internet I found it to be filled with victims of the same problem or scam. I guess the bottom line is I won't own a DELCO battery and will be replaceing the top post model in our 05 with 10,000 miles.

Can't imagine why 1000cca would be a bad thing, unless you have another problem with a leaky battery. Personally, I have a Red Top 75/35 with 720cca and I've had almost 2 years of trouble free use.

The higher the CCA rating the better. It's a good indicator of the amount of available current (amps) you have on tap if you should need them. Just be sure though, that the number you're getting says "CCA" and not "CA". They are different. CCA refers to "Cold Cranking Amps, while "CA" refers to "Cranking Amps. CCA's are measured at 0 degrees F, while CA's are measured at 32 degrees F. It's kinda like the "peak watts" vs. "RMS watts" marketing game that many stereo manufacturers play. Some battery manufacturers play that advertising game too, by only showing (or emphasizing) the "CA" number. A battery that is rated for 1000 Cranking Amps may only be rated at 600 or 700 Cold Cranking Amps. If yours is 1000 CCA, then you sound like you got a good one.
