Tuesday I took a 300+ mile day trip and the next morning noticed oil spots on the garage floor. I’m thinking it’s the classic left side O-ring and axel shaft seal.……. Oil blown onto my left exhaust pipe, muffler and underneath the storage well.
I did a search and found this is VERY COMMON for the C5.
I’m disappointed but if it had to happen, that was a good time because the 3-year warranty is up on the 24th of this month.
Anyway, in some of the archived threads I read that replacing the seals isn’t necessarily a long term fix and can occur again. Not good w/o a warranty - $500 repair job.
Also, I dread taking the Vette to the dealer for the usual reasons. She’s never been there – this is the first problem and I do my own oil changes.
Wish me luck.
