With regards to Intake Manifolds..what is EGR?

Exhaust Gas Recirculation - idea is to reburn the exhaust gases to burn off the hydro-carbons and carbon monoxide.

So you want or do not want this in a manifold? I'm looking to upgrade my intake manifold and I just heard about this EGR. Should I get one with this feature?

It's not a performance issue, it really more of an emmissions issue.

No just to re-burn
The Exhaust Gas Recalculation –is not just to re-burn un-burnt gases. It’s a weird way to lower the combustion temperature by recalculating carbon monoxides that has already burnt thus lowering the oxygen level, which intern lowers combustion temperature and allows the fuel to burn more smoothly and not explode or ping. On most fuel injected motors this is monitored so if you alter a motor were the computer is looking for a sensor you will have to revamp the computer to not look for it. Now if you remove the EGR you are going to alter your mixture and make run leaner so this will have to be revamped too. Now that you have done all this you have altered the way the fuel burns and so timing is going to have to be advanced too so your looking at a major retune. No more cheep gas either as you will need to run high octane to slow the fuel burn. You’ll have to stay away from Oxygenated fuel like Chevron. 76, 91 octane or higher will be okay. Will you increase power? Yes but for the hassle just removing your Cats and letting her breath will give you more that removing the EGR. I can give you more info if need but it’s at home. Let me know
