Default Are the door key and Ignition Key the Same?

I just purchased a 2000 Corvette convertible. The only lock cylinder on the outside of the car is on the drivers door. I tried to insert my ignition key in it to operate the lock manually (just to check). It did not fit! I didn't get any other keys to this car... just 2 fobs and 2 ignition keys... Any clue?

Almost sounds like the lock cylinder on the door was changed....perish the thought, but was the car ever hit on the driver's door?

One key should fit both.

Why don't you just go to your car and try? I bet it took longer to post this than if you would just try to help yourself.

When you put the "ignition" key in the door lock, it doesn't go in all the way, you'd think that something was wrong with it .... but, that's the way it is!!

Try the key in the console and glove compartment.
If it fits there the door cylinder was changed.
If it does not fit there the ignition was changed.
