2023 C5 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
I just changed out the headlights for Euro lights and its reasonably straight forward.
Turn the lights on and back off to the parking position to kill the lights.
You need to remove the black plastic headlight bezels (3 screws at the top- 2 one side and one the other). Take off the colored headlamp cover (4 torx screws- 2 rear, one each side.
Unbolt the headlight unit from the housing (2 nuts one on the outside one on the inner side). These nuts are very difficult to get at and this is the most time consuming part. Once you've got them out, pull off the bulb connectors. You can now replace the lamp unit.
PFYC have a great write up with pictures:

One member 6500RPM managed to change the headlamp motor without taking the whole assembly out:

You may want to PM him for more detail

It's a good idea to remove the negative cable on the battery and leave it off until the headlight/motor is installed completely....right deegee?
