Sorry, haven't heard much about the Black and Decker model. I had a Sears Battery Maintainer and it died on me after two years (but it was guaranteed for three so they replaced it under warranty). However, I went ahead and bought a Battery Tender and so far it has worked flawlessly. It was around $63 with tax.

I didn't use one last winter and wish that I did because I had to jump start it a few times (always makes me feel a little uncomfortable).

When I started looking late last year I found several references to a CTEK charger that was supposed to be very good (http://www.westcoastcorvette.com/sho...926#largeimage). I could not find it locally and everyone online sold it at the same price ($69.95). I've been using it for the past two months and so far so good. It appears to be built very well and has a 2 year warranty.

Just another alternative to consider. Below are a couple more links in case you're interested.

I bought one a few months ago. I paid $17.44 at Wally World. It is working fine, I am out in the garage alot, and it is amazing to see how often the charging light is on.

This is the first winter I have stored my car, in the past, my battery would be dead in 3 weeks if I didn't drive it.

I have a side post battery and used the pigtail that has the 2 ring terminal connections hooked to the battery bolts. I fished the charger wire behind the front passenger tire, through an opening near the shock, and set the charger on a plastic bucket to get it off the ground. This let me close the hood securely and put my carcover on the car.

Know nothing about the B&D charger, but like some others, I haven't had a lot of success with B&D products over the years, I have a Battery Tender....works great.
