Default Drag Radial Advice!!!!!

I have an 03' Z06 on 19/20 Chrome Z06 wheels. For the track I am about to purchase black motorsports in stock Z06 sizes. I am planning on putting Nitto drag radials in the rear and some brand new inexpensive tires on the front wheels (Falken GRB's). Is this a bad idea? Should I put 555R or 555R2's on the rear wheels. Please help me.

Wait. I just reread your post, are you getting those Motorsports for the track ONLY? If so I would rethink that, and take a look at the CCW drag pack.

Go with BFG's. They are alot stickier than the Nittos.

Yes, for the track get the widest drag radial you can from BF goodrich, only reason to use Nitto is for street/strip becasue of treadwear

It's a myth that wider = better. For dry traction, you should
go for a smaller tire (17"), that has more of a sidewall. (M.T.)

There, I said it.

i don't think i'd agree with the fact to go with a smaller tire, rather a wider tire with a bit more sidewall to have more of a wrinkle and the width will give you more traction area

Check out the new Mickey Thompson Drag radials, I don't know if they come in the size you need, but if they do they are excellent. They are as soft as a slick. There are a lot of Drag Racers in the street tire DOT approved class running 8 second 1/4 miles using these tires.

Yes, that is true, as I said a post before to get 16" wheels in a perfect world, but read carefully above, he already got his wheels. Now he needs to get the widest BFG he can fit with the tallest sidewall.

Oh, and for the record, WIDER IS BETTER. Just don't loose sidewall in the process or you won't gain anything but looks. Tread compound is most important thing concerning dry traction.

315/30/18 BFG drag radials will fit on those wheels, but the sidewall is shorter than the 295/35/18.

Get some 17 wheels and put some MT DR on them you will be glad I have made runs with Nittos lowest 60" was 1.8s with the MT 1.6 flat

My silver car only has about 400 rwhp and I could not get hooked up with the Nittos I have seen some A4 cars do well with them.

Good luck

You said you were about to purchase them...don`t...go with smaller diameter wheels (bigger sidewall, don`t go bigger than one inch tread width than wheel width or they will loose contact patch).
You said these were for the track, so why not a slick.
I have drag radials (BFGoodrich) and mickey thompson slicks for another car and the slicks blow the radials away.
Although it depends on what class your racing in.(street legal)

Actually, I already purchased them. The reason I went with the 18 inch wheel in the rear is because I have the large Baer Eradispeed rotors and I need at least an 18 inch wheels to clear them.......
