Default Lowered Vette last night

Sorry, no pics. Actually, I didn't plan on lowering it, but I had it jacked up and decided it was time, so I didn't get a before measurement.

Anyways, I read that it takes a week to settle sometimes...why is that? I didn't really notice a difference when I was done. Should I have? Its the Z51 if that matters.

It actually takes about 1 or 2 miles for it to settle. One launch, one brake application and she's down

You probably won't notice much in the way of handling either. I did notice that there was less body roll with the lower center of gravity, but it was something I was specifically looking for. Under most normal driving conditions you shouldn't notice a difference.

The Z51 doesn't lower as much as the base suspension. I've got the Z51 also and originally lowered on stock bolts, it did look a little better but really didn't drop that much, in my opinion. I later cut 2/3 of the front bushings and put longer bolts in the rear. Now I'm happy with the look.

I have the Z51 suspension also. When I originally lowered it, I didn't see much of a difference. I took it for a ride and someone pulled up next to me and asked if it was lowered. I said yes but want to lower it more. When I got home I looked back at the car and realized it settled and looked much better. I sitll think it needs to be a little lower though.

Go ahead a use the lowering bolts and don't waste your time with stock, the Z51 has a stiffer suspension, what I did in the front was use one of the back bushing (which is three part) cut off the upper and lower thin parts, used them in place of the front pads, it made a world of difference.

I heard that if you lower your non z51 you run the risk of damaging the suspension. Anyone ever heard about this?

I drove mine around for several days before I got it aligned but that's something you need to do pretty soon!

One word of caution...

If your tires are still in good shape, go have a 4-wheel alignment done. If you don't you will quickly wear off the insides of all four tires will be buying new ones before you know it. Only took mine 2 months after a stock bolt lowering to wipe out the inside edges.

Always realign your vehicle when you lower your C5 (allow just a brief amount of time for the vehicle to settle), when you upgrade suspension, or, strike a pothole, curb, etc.. Such instances generally place your current suspension and alignment settings out of a respectable alignment spec range that may be conducive to premature tire wear.
