Well I couldn't help it...no sooner had I dropped in the 402 that I moved on to my next set of mods...
I got a set of calipers from Mike at www.thepowdercoater.com done up in red. And at no extra charge, he also did a set of C6 Z51 brackets and installed new seals from the rebuild kit I sent him. As you can see from the pics, he does great work, keeps you in the loop on status, and ships them back very carefully packed. Highly recommended!

Since I was now going to be running 18" wheels up front I thought this would be a good time to get bigger rotors too, but I wanted to find a good bang for the buck option and running the C6 Z51 setup was the way to go. This allowed me to reuse my calipers, but now I could run 13.4" up front and 13" rear and all that was needed was a new set of brackets that move the calipers further out. I called up Jeremy at Fred Beans and ordered my parts. Another great vendor to deal with! Whenever possible I will order all my parts from them...great experience!

I also got Z06 pads and flushed the brake fuild and refilled with ATE Super Blue (536 degress dry boiling point, 392 degress wet)

The torque on the 402 necessitated going to much stickier tires. So I got Nitto RIIs 285/35/18 and 305/35/18 (heat cycled, of course)...but what to mount them on? Time for new wheels! I had been considering new wheels for some time, but going to the Nittos forced me to finally make a decision. When CCW came out with the Corsairs I was sold! But I was not a big fan of blingy chrome or high polished so I got the Brushed Aluminum and clear anodized version in 18x10 and 18x11. In fact, John says I'm probably the first to have the Brushed Aluminum versions of the Corsairs. John and Chip at CCW were awesome to deal with!

And here it is all put together! Major thanks to Rob Mora (service advisor) and Al (brake/suspension tech) at Cormier Chevrolet. I know there are always horror stories about dealerships, but my experience was wonderful! It was exactly how it should be! I’ve had other good experiences with them in the past, but I’ve never had them do this much work before. They swapped out the calipers, bled and refilled with ATE brake fluid, installed the rotors, pads and brackets, replaced the plastic end links with aluminum ones, cut the front bushings further to lower it a tad more, oil change, replaced two front O2 sensors, and wheel alignment. Rob is a total car guy so he had no problems taking in a very modified car like mine and doing non-stock work and Al owns a 99 Hardtop so I had very little explaining to do…he just “gets it”. If he had any questions while working on it he’d call me directly from his cell phone to confirm. Al carefully rewrapped up all my old parts and put them in a box (even marking the old O2 sensors as being from left or right side). I asked him to do the wheel alignment per Z06 specs. He mentioned that there was range in there and he and I disussed the best setting. And he even left the alignment spec report sheet in the car for me and marked the specs with a highlighter! Its the little things that make me realize I was well taken care of. And on top of all that they had a free shuttle service to pick me up and drop me off (I live almost 10 miles away).

I think that’s enough mods on the car for a little while. Time to enjoy driving it more!

I've been looking at doing this for awhile now. When the time comes for brakes. I'm doing this.

It sounds that you are happy with the outcome. If you have any problems or questions feel free to stop by Cormier or give me a call. It was a pleasure doing the work on your car for you. What a change of pace that was, after doing the routine day in day out service work it was great to do FUN work. I have to admit that your car sounds awsome and drives just a good as it sounds. The CCW wheels look as if they got a block of billet alu. and CNC'd it into a wheel, very nice looking wheel and it weights next to nothing. We've had quite a few modded corvette's come through, but your's is by far much nicely put together (product and execution). Especially the BRAKES AND SUSPENSION!!! Now good out there and enjoy your new setup. Besides its a great day for a drive today here in sunny California. About 70 degrees clear, bright and sunny.
