Default Bugs prefer black and red...scientific study.

In The Proceedings of The Royal Society B, a new study reveals that bugs like red and black cars the best. The conclusion of the study shows that red and black reflect light on a horizontal plane similar to standing puddles of water, thus attracting egg laying insects. The best colors to repel bugs.........white, yellow, and leaving the car dirty so it doesn't reflect light. Oh yeah, my Vette is black, guess I'll quit washing it.

My black car offers further proof.

i dont know. it seems that every bug under the sun comes toward the MY when im washing or just sitting at a light. Especially the wasps. In the 3 summer/fall months that I had teh car last year. I had one come flying into my car while driving and that was interesting let me tell you. While the other 4 were while i was washing the car. They are attracted for some reason. Maybe its the smell of my cleaning products as well

Heck, I catch the sent of Meguiars and come buzzing out to the car... no scientific study; it's just a Saturday morning thing.

There is no way Black and Red attract more bugs, MY is the best at it. There was even a thread about it a few days ago.

I can believe it - when I had my red '99 it attracted its share of bugs.

I definately take issue with this study....MY is like a freakin' bug magnet! As was stated above, if the top is down at a light I actually have to concern myself with stinger weilding kamakazi bugs... When I wash the car, or even just park it, the damn gnats or what ever the hell they are swarm it. Pesky bastards....

Maybe I can come up with a new Mod, one of those bug zappers to hang from the rear view.

By the way, I would not have any other color

Hard for anyone that's owned a yellow car to believe. Maybe they just don't show as much on other colors.

The Yellow draws many more than the red. Grass hoppers in particular!

My nonscientific study agrees with others in this thread, yellow attracts the most bugs.

Someone needs to educate the "Love Bugs" here in Florida then. Those suckers love white and silver!

All the MY owners seem to think their cars attract the most bugs. Based on my discussion at the local nursery today, I think they're right.

YELLOW=BUGS I worked for a company with yellow rigs and the bees would cover them. They built a nest in the boom of one I was running.

On the same note haven't you ever noticed how a Ford Mustang attracts flies
