LMC5 installs in minutes, in the passenger side foot well, would be hooked up to your BCM
This is all I have to do to fix the "service column lock" message???

2004

Had one replaced under warranty

Second one failed a few months ago (TCS NO Comm - unrepairable) Replaced with used one off Ebay for $340. It included pump module which I sold for $100. So net cost was $240.

Both failures occurred after recharging battery. Going forward, will disconnect battery when recharging.

Wow this is some really good information! I really appreciate it! I did pull my codes and of course had the C1255 and C1243.. I do have a new AC Delco battery installed, hopefully troubleshooting will begin this weekend and I'll report back.

Yes I checked it out and I think I may have this part already installed. I'll check this weekend. I get the "service column lock" message every time I start my car, but the column doesn't lock and it always starts..

Yeah you need to call compliance and talk to Richard...disconnect the relay and do the brown wire fix ... he'll talk you thru it. Good luck

Purchased the car in February 2013 with a pre-existing ECBM problem. Procrastinated for about 6 months. Took it off sent it to Wisconsin. $50 and 5 days later it was returned to me with full warranty. spent another 45 minutes putting it back on. Not as single EBCM problem since.
Also, Used my flexible shaft screwdriver handle and adaptor for the bit, then using masking tape, taped the head of the screws to the torque bit to get them started. Easy. Peasy.

Kahuna1, have you personally tried myairbags.com? I ask because you have a 2000 and those are the non-repairable ones.

that was the case for a long time but I know of a few people that have had there 2000 - done with no problems - when I purchased my 2000 FRC I was told the same thing so I started investigating it and talked to the people at airbags - I also found some who had 2000 that had used there product and it worked.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll keep that in mind for the future (I'm a 2000 owner).

Is this BCM the ABS module on the brake system that controls ABS and active handling? Or the module under the driver floor? Or under the battery?

I have a 2001 Z06 with the dreaded abs no tc problem. Sent it in to my airbags for the fix. Reinstalled and no luck - asked for a refund. Will let you know if they process the request. Bought a brand new unit and plan to install that - should do the trick I hope.

Replaced mine with one from GM Parts for $450 and about 2 hours labor. No more ABS or TC codes. I sent my old one to a repair center and they told me it wasn't repairable. 2004 LeMans manual trany.

1999/Convert - 56,000 miles
Bought in late 2013 with 52,000 miles on it started throwing the C1283 code within 30 days of purchase. Dealer is sending out a service tech to pull the abs module and get it fixed as the car is in storage right now. Sure hopes this works, dealer is still covering under original 30 day warranty.
