Default For those who have the ACI front spoiler

I need to ask a favor from someone who has an ACI front spoiler
installed on their C5 with stock ride height. Can you tell me the
distance from flat pavement to the bottom of the spoiler?

Also, did you retain the factory-installed movable air dams that
would be behind the spoiler? I've seen several pics of C5's with
this spoiler installed and I like the look.

Any problems backing down a driveway and onto the street?

Thanks from a newbie to the forum.

First of all...
Welcome to the Zoo

Only the left and right side air dam pieces come off... the center one stays.

The height of the nose does not change... it only sticks further out, so when you encounter a speed bump, driveway, etc.... just make sure you hit it at a steeper angle...

Mine is lowered and I have a nose killin' driveway, but I barely scrape, sometimes not at all...

Hope you enjoy your stay here

Well, my spoiler-to-ground distance is quite short, but my car is also lowered about 2", so that won't help you.

Only the center section of the factory airdam is retained. It's a good idea to keep it, although it won't be visible, it does direct air up into the radiator. The soft corner pieces can't be used, as the spoiler fastens where these pieces were.

I've scraped my spoiler plenty, but as long as you do it slowly (like in a driveway approach), it should be ok and not do any visible damage. What you do need to keep an eye out for is road debris and dips in the road, etc...anything you might hit at speed. The spoiler is fiberglass, and doesn't hold up well to high speed impact. Also ve very alert to parking curbs and stop short when pulling up to a parking spot.

Default ttt

complete agree with the above, i have had my ACI for about two months now .. can i cant stop looking at my car ... its well worth it .. yeah you might not be able to enter into ever drive way..

However i have found taking the time to go slowly over speed bumps... enterences, exit .. helps tremendously, and my vette is lowered also.

Just remember to keep the car at an angel..too that helps as well.

ENJOY !!!

I've lowered mine also, but so far I haven't scraped too bad. You just have to be careful and take things slow and at an angle. I do really like the way they look though.

I beg to differ with the above post that the clearance of the nose does not change. Also, no one has even answered your question yet, that is, what is the clearance with the ACI front spoiler installed on a car that has not been lowered? The answer (on my car) is approx. 3.5". I am going to lower it 1" next week. Yes, it will scrape, you must be very careful, anticipate dips and bumps, enter steep drives at a crawl, and don't let anyone else drive your car! Good luck!

When you add the spoiler on, it has to be lower AND it sticks out further. I always thought I scraped the spoiler in my driveway until I had it on a lift, and discovered that it was the splashguards scraping instead (paint rubbed off). I repaired mine three times in three years because I hit those cement slabs pulling up to a convenience store(very expensive to gel coat and paint(especially mag red). So just be careful parking and going over dips in the road, but they look great.

My car is lowered over 1" and there is 4.25" of ground clearance. You want to keep the center air dam. I have read that it will affect the car's cooling if you don't use the center air dam. I haven't scraped mine yet but I have been careful.Enjoy.

I agree with all of the above. I cannot say anything about the stock height as my car is well..... a lot lowered but I know its not going to be as bad as its with all of us lowered guys

Just make sure to take steep driveways/entryways etc at an angle and slow down. If it scrapes at the bottom, its not a big deal as long as you go slow.

With all the modifications, come responsibilities but the end result is well worth it

I have to agree.. You should never go down a driveway straight. Especially with the ACI spoiler..

I'm about 5" off the ground not lowered and have all three air dams on. I have scraped the very bottom of the spoiler on the driveway but not if I take it a very sharp angle. Usually if I scrape, it's just the air dam. The air dam does still hang lower but the spoiler sticks out in front a lot further. The body shop that painted and installed mine figured I’d knock it off in a week.

Oh no... Did you guys have to take it off and get it fixed/repainted already? That sucks...

Default Good info, good advice.....

Thanks to all so far, who took the time to answer. Sounds like those
who lowered their Vettes have to be more careful on driveways, curbs
and speedbumps. I plan on keeping the stock ride height for now.

I think the C5 has great style and stance. However (in my eye) the
front section looks a little soft......round corners and such. Adding the
chin spoiler brings some sharp edge to the front. Just enough to
change the overall look. Subtle, tasteful (and hopefully functional).
This may be my first external mod. I have already done some things
to increase interior storage capacity.

Any opinions on ACI product quality, service, etc?
