Corvette in flooded streets.
Any of you see the footage on TV tonight of a C5 corvette plowing through a flooded street? It has been showing on the Weather Channel. Someone is driving their C5 through this flooded street and as they are going through the water, it is just about washing up over the entire hood. Unbelieveable!!! And the car does not stall (in the footage anyway).
I guess that could be one way of washing your engine bay.

I wouldn't do that with any car. Some people just don't understand the issues involved (electrical and hydrolock).

Saw it too
I couldn't believe it either when I saw the same footage. Was wondering how he didn't hydrolock his engine with all that water coming over the hood.

I recorded it on my DVR but it will be complicated to get it onto the computer. The water was coming up over the hood. Obviously the car had the stock air cleaner and it did not spend enough time in the water for the water to come up through the bumper and get to the air intake. Doubt they realized the water was that deep when they went into it. I did the same thing with an 83 Buick Century. Got into what looked like a shallow puddle but did not realize the road had a dip. The only thing to do was to keep going. When a high rise truck came blasting through the other way water went over the hood. Luckily the air intake was behind the headlight so water didn't get to it right away even though the back of the car was floating. If it had stalled out we would have had to crawl out of the windows to get out since water pressure would have kept the doors from opening.

If he didn't hydrolock the motor, he is one lucky guy.
