Default Repair Manual for C5? Haynes, Chiltons...?

Does Haynes or Chiltons make a repair manual for the C5? I've had no problem finding manuals for the C3, C4, etc.......but no luck in finding one for the C5?

Or maybe does anyone have a .pdf manual available?

but are you talking about the set of 3 service manuals that runs like $130?

I don't understand why Haynes hasn't put out a C5 repair manual yet........or maybe they have?

i don't believe they have. their manuals are too generic in the procedures for my tastes anyway.

Someone posted recently having contacted one of those firms. Apparently its to do with volume of sales. The Vette doesn't meet their target for volume so they don't believe its worth the effort of producing a manual.

Got my factory set in the Parts F/S section for about $80. Worth every penny. That seems to be the going rate on ebay as well.

Default ebay all the way

They are always on ebay. I waited until the price was right and got mine for $50. If you have the time that is the way to go, i waited 4 months. These manuals are overkill, you need a lot of things ordinary people do not have.

Buy the factory issued set - you can get them at a decent price from either Fred Beans or Fichtner Chevy.

Unless you can still find the electronic version of the manuals, you don't have much choice other to buy the full Helms GM paper version. While these manuals contain almost all the information you need, they are poorly editted with numerous references to index items that don't exist. They're still worth buying though; I've replaced my driver's side diff seal, idler pulley, shift control cable, and recharged my AC using them.

A while back, I seem to recall one of the Forum vendors, and for some reason, Fred Beans sticks in my head, had them for free download from their website. Check there and see if they still do.

Default www.AllData.com

Get a subscription (Cheap). Lists how tos, parts, labor times, special tools, good library on codes, TSBs, recalls all at your fingertips. Print out what you need to do from their database. Keep the printout with your notes or throw it out after you're done. Not as detailed as the GM set, but nice inexpensive alternative to the GM manual set.

Purchasing the GM C5 Service Manual Set is best. However, Alldata is an alternative that is available, and, is commonly used by almost every mechanics service shop as a reference.
