Need help on transmission fluid change
Time to change the A4 transmission fluid. (25,000 on 1 car and 40,000 on the other. Checked with a dealer and they don't use synthetics. They have two options; a flush which changes all the fluid but not the filter, or a filter change which only changes about half of the fluid.
What's everyone been doing? Do I need a filter change or just the fluid?
Is this a job I can do in my garage?
What fluid is best?
Also, should I change the fluid on the MN-6? At what mileage? What fluid?

Owner's manual says every 100,000 miles (yes, 100,000 miles, no typo)on the A4 UNLESS you drive it in mountainous terrain (not in Indiana I think) in which case you should change it every 50,000.
I'm researching types and all your other questions as well right now as I live in the mountains and am over 50,000! Hopefully we get some good input!

Ok, I take the easy way out. Every 35,000 miles I let the dealer and sponsor of our Corvette Club change the tranny oil. About $130 at the dealer every other year or so. Jim
