Default 02 to 04 guys, Help!

I'm kinda lookingfor a good used 02 to 04 A-4 coupe, with under 45,000 miles in the price range of $26,000 and up.

Anything i should look out for as far as recalls or other problems with the 02 and newer C-5's?

As of now i have a 05 LS2 GTO , and the LS2 just pulls like a beast, love the GTO, but i am looking for my first Vett. Carmax has alot of C5's from $27,000 and up!

Or would i be better off getting a used C6? I never owned a LS1 powered car, and dont know how it will compare to the power of my
LS2 GTO.

A pretty common response, especially in the C-5 section would be to go for the C-5 and have money left over for the mods. Besides, I don't think you will be even close to being able to touch a C-6 for the price range you are talking about.

Haven't driven a GTO but the weight and aerodynamics of a Corvette ought to give you a better seat of the pants feel when you put the pedal down. Good luck with the hunt!

My Price range is from around 27,000 up to about 41,000.

Carmax does have some C6's for around 41,000 and up. I'm just hunting for now, could be a month or a year before i buy!

Nothing to really worry about for those years C5. Just find one that has been taken care of. Lots of nice cars in those years out there.

Good luck.

whatever you do, get the 3:15 gear ratio with the A4

i think the code for those gears are GU92. you will find it inside your glove compartment.

Thanks guys!

Carmax list the rear gears, on most of it's Vetts, i notice most are 3:42's, and a few are 2:73's.

The 3:42's are what you get with the manual, no factory options for M6 cars. The A4's had a standard of 2:73's with an option for the 3:15's. Makes a world of difference on an automatic.

I have seen where Carmax does get alot of info mixed up, and they never list HUD, LT2, LT3 or other options!

My 05 LS2 A-4 GTO has 3:42's, and it will flat tear up the tires if ya get on it.

There is a "sticky" at the top of the c5 general page that is titled "Weights, Measurements etc". I would read that and learn as much as I could about C5s. Your smart to not be in a hurry. Esp going into winter, prices may soften and you can take your time to find the right one for the right price. finally, I would make sure I inspect anything I buy to see how it's been taken care of, look at past service history etc. You can also read a great deal about C5s on this forum and be much more knowledgeable about the car.

I have an 04 coupe and I love it! Good luck

Thats why i came to this forum, so i can learn from the Vettsperts.
I'm pretty Vett dumb as of now! With the GTO you had two picks the 04 LS1 or the 05-06 LS2, but with the Vett you have so many more choices.

Choose carefully. In mid-model year 2003, the EPA required a change that brought a less robust fuel injection system and moving the fuel filter INSIDE the driver's side fuel tank. There were some posts about this topic over the past 10 days, or so.

It was for that reason that I went looking for a 2002 or early 2003. You can tell by the VIN whether the '03 is early or late. I liked the 2002 and early '03 because all the tweaks and running mods (the good ones) are there.

Having changed a few fuel filters over the decades, I can tell you that draining and dropping a fuel tank (or both, since there are two on the C5) makes no sense. Also if you want to mod the car later, depending on how far out there you get, you may have to change the fuel injection system, too.

IF i ever need a new fuel filter, i'm looking at a $500 charge or so for a dealer to do this. OUCH!
