Have stowaway mouse in car presently....
Went to go get my car at storage and opened the hood, found mouse poop on my "corvette" covers then noticed mouse staring at me sitting on wiper cowling and he ran down into the car somewhere, my friend nor I saw him run away, no where for him to go anyway. Any ideas guys on how to get a mouse out of a car asap? I mean the little guy is in my engine compartment somewhere. Hopefully he'll evacuate...
any bright ideas?

I found a tip here and hope it works. Take some ladies nylons, preferrably not on, and put some moth ***** in them. I put one on top of the engine and some in the trunk. Mine had a little nest under the engine covers when i got it but no damage. Air it out good in the spring or whenever.
I also put some mice poison around the garage . Got them both at the local grocery store.

Living in the North East this is all to common for me. I use the plastic boxes that trap them live them you can choose to release them elsewhere or feed them to your pet snake.
They are just a dollar and available in most stores. Bait them with a cracker and a dab of peanut butter on it. The best thing about these traps is you don't have to "set" it or touch the rodent. You can just toss them away.

If the mouse is coming up into the engine bay, he will likely come back to the same place to do his business. Try some of the small glue traps they sell at the hardware stores. These are small trays that have a super sticky glue subtance in them. Get the traps that also have bait to attract the mice. Once they step on this stuff, they are history. They cannot move and die on the spot. If you use these traps, be sure to not touch the glue or let it touch anything. If you do get some of the glue on something, take some WD 40 and it will come right off. You need to let these traps set for a day or two and then you will have your mouse. Good luck with it.

You are correct. Mice are sooo creatures of habit. We found some babies in our brush truck glove box here at the FD and it was crazy. Those little critters messed alot of stuff up.

Had a mouse in my Bass Boat. He stuck his head out of a pedestal
seat post one day while I was cleaning the boat.
I was quick with the shop VAC. Sucked his *** right tru the hose into the bag. Felt him as he went tru the hose.
Wonder what he thought.

I was at a local tuner a little while ago and the car on the lift came in with a foul order. After searching around they found where baby mice were born inside one of the water utters, and for what ever reason........died there.

Not to be a wise guy here, but in years of storing cars I never had a mouse problem. I store in garage and leave poison on floor near Vette, never had any eaten.
Now in my daily driver 4x4 truck I just discovered mice living in the insulation behind the motor. This is strange because this is a well driven truck. I was coming home from shopping and saw a mouse walking across my wipers. (I was doing 45mph) I waited for "it" to get to the end of wipers and turned em on! It looked like a fighter pilot when they hit the eject button. Like instant gone.
Went home and checked the truck and saw the insulation by motor all chewed up. Removed as much as I could reach. This is a true story, it happened 2 weeks ago.

I had an experience with mice building a nest on top of the intake manifold a couple of summers ago. After opening the hood at a local car show I was greeted y what looked like a bird nest on top of the motor. It was mostly grass clippings from the riding mower also parked in the garage. I was very lucky since nothing was damaged (yet).
After doing some research, I learned that Irish Spring soap would deter the little boogers. I gave it a shot and it worked. All you do is shave up a single bar of the soap into a container ( I use a zip-lock bag) and place the open container in the engine compartment. To make sure that I don't forget about the bag of soap in the engine compartment I also but some soap shavings in the original soax box and place it on the driver's side floorboard. When I get in the car I see the box and remember to remove the bag from the engine compartment. I replace the soap every so often when it begins to lose its odor. It keeps the interior of the car smelling fresh too!
