Default HID Fogs are in...

I got my Hella Micro DE's on Monday.. installed them Monday night...

THANK YOU TUAN LE (Supporting Vendor)... I ordered these Friday and they were here Monday!

Went from the PIAA's to these... wow... but mainly the beam pattern is noticeable. It's more focused with these, but it seems to go a lot further than the PIAA's used to...

Install wasn't harder than the PIAA's. I'm waiting on the other brackets to come, but in the meantime, I mated the OEM bracket (with a slight bend to fit) and the brackets that came with the Hellas.

Here are some pix as promised...

Dave

The length was not an issue... I believe it was only about an 1.5" longer..

View from top of engine bay, with headlight bezel removed... one bolt holds the light bracket in place.

Pivoting elbow made it a lot easier to get the one bolt out...

OEM bracket + Hella bracket

Here's the beam pattern prior to adjustments...

Hey Dave why do it look like your HID headlights have two different bulbs?

hmmm...the beam pattern looks like it does not have a sharp, flat cutoff like HID lights usually do...t's very round the way regular bulbs output.

plus the color looks very yellow. this is really the HID kit with the ballasts and not the regular micro-de kit?

how sharp is the cutoff? i was assuming it would look like this:

What color temperature is that? Is it HID or halogen?

looking at the box it says xenon but it looks like you get a better cutoff and color from just throwing in xenon bulbs into the stock foglight housing

I bought a pair of Hella Optilux fog lights, and I am waiting on them and the HID kit I bought to use with them. Is it illegal in most states to have HID xenon lights as fog lights?

I had the camera compensation turned way down so the pix didn't get washed out...

The color in person is really white... the ring of yellow is not that obvious...

So do these use ballasts? Are they truly HID's?

Looking great! I'd been thinking of doing this, and will now pull the trigger after seeing this install.

Do you happen to know the part # for the brackets you used? I have a Z06 so no brackets at all.

Thanks, and a great job.

Thanks It's the OEM fog bracket... I don't have my service manuals with me, so I don't know the # off hand... sorry. Maybe Gene can shot them out to you.
