Default Driving with the targa top off

I presently own a C-4, but am going to up grade to a C-5. The C-4's tweek and bend with the top off. Is this also true with the C-5 or are they built for the targa top?

Thanks !

actually they were built with a vert in mind so they are much stiffer, I don't think you would have flexing issues...at least not stock

My '94 wasn't too bad with the targa off. Cruising with the top off the
C5 doesn't feel any different except for the wind in your face. Mind you I said "cruising". Attacking some twisties in either generation with the top of is asking for some big body motions although the C5 is definitely better.

I had four C4s before I got a C5 and the difference with the targa top off between the two generations is substantial IMO. C5 is a much stiffer car and you do not feel the flex with the targa off the car.

I never noticed a difference with the roof off on my old C5.

It actually made it feel like a sports car.

One of the biggest design priorities for the C5 was to start with a platform that was far stiffer than that of the C4...and indeed it is. I notice no difference at all in stiffness or squeaks and rattles with the targa off.

My friend at work has a C5 and when she takes her top off, I notice a little stiffness and twisting.

Im hopeing my 97 will be better than my sold 92.
The c4 was not to to bad.
I only drove the C5 in the driveway w/the top off.
I got it in December.

You do not get the body flex with the C5 as you are getting with the C4. The C5 was designed as a convertible, so it is more rigid.

If you're concerned about flex with the C5 targa off, get a good tunnel plate. Problem solved (if there even was a problem).

I drove 250 miles with the top off through Wva mountain twisties. I noticed NO Difference in structural rigidity, I've owned the car two months, needless to say, I WAS IMPRESSED!

I have absoloutly no problem with my C5 twisting or doing any of the things common to your staement. I had a C4 too and the C5 is a much better Vette and does not have he same issues!

Thanks,Matt

I noticed a little bit of flexing with the top off.

After I had the 1/4" tunnel plate installed, the flexing disappeared completely.
