Default Wet Door Sills

Everyone get wet door sills when you wash or driving in rain? Both my door gaskets are very good shape, but water seems to get in between the door gaskets and is standing on the door sill when I open the door after a wash job. Does it get in the door handle or where? I usually wipe them down anyway, but how does it get in there? Thanks if you have any info.

First thing I would check would be the door drains at the bottom. It's normal for a small amount of water to get into the door past the window reveal molding weatherstrips.

The gaskets seal inside of the door sill, not to the outside. So water will lay on the sill, but shouldn't get in the car. If you look around the whole door at where the gaskets are you will see this.

I have some drops of water in my sills after I wash the car. I wouldn't say it's "standing water" but enough that I make sure to wipe it out.

Thanks all!! I will check the door drains, but it sounds like it is normal. Maybe my saying standing water was a bit much. Just wondered if this was normal. I thought the outer most door seal would prevent this. Thanks again all!!!

Yup... I got the same issue too. The water doesn't get in the car but it is kinda annoying.

The solution is to run a lenght of "sticky" weather strip just above the bottom edge of the doors. I use 1/2" closed cell rubber foam; found in most hardware stores.

I bought an aftermarket bottom door seal. It keeps out dirty road water, BUT it still gets wet when you drive in the rain or wash the car, because water can still enter from the top seam of the door. Again the OEM seals keep water out of the car but not out of the door sill area.

Then I dunno.... Ever since I install the weather stripping no more water on my sills.
