What type of gas do you use?
I have been using regular, but I'm thinking about not being a cheap *** and buying what should be use. Have anyone here made the switch from regular to supreme and notice anything different?

Went from premium to regular recently
I switched to regular from premium a few weeks ago. I've been keeping a log on gas mileage for several months now, and will run three or four more tanks of regular before making a decision which one to run.
Computer handles the regular (Texaco or Chevron only) quite well. In fact, it seems to have just a little more low end torque, and I don't push it nearly hard enough to worry about performance loss.
I did it to try and spend less with Big Oil. I am curious about what the fuel mileage difference will be in the long run.

Biggest Differences.
Acceleration without worry of any engine 'running rough' Octane is really only needed during Acceleration or climbing hills.
93 Gas has a higher ratio of detergents (Atleast at my company) and combined with a cleaner burn should help you in the repair shop. Carbon Deposits from 87 Octane are inversely proportional to the money you will spend saving vs 93.
MidGrade is a waste - Every Gas company blends regular and premium to get it and you get 2pts vs 6 with 93. Technically You could fill the tank 1/2 full of regular and 1/2 full of premium and have 90 octane and less deposits in the long run.
For the Corvette I'd stick with Major Brand 93 Octane.
Avoid Private Owned stations (Who buy gas from cheapest supplier)
They tend to avoid technology such as .10 MM Micron filtration and other goodies that keep gas clean.
Yes Base Gasoline is interchangeable. The Oil Companies that supply our terminals all supply the same refined Gasoline. At the Terminal is where the Company Detergents are added.
How's that for my first post?
Also I have recently purchased a C5 2001 Vert Mag Red and I live in Florida. I work for an oil company....

In NY there is about a $ 0.30 difference between regular. and premium, so 10 gallons cost $3.00 more then regular. If $3.00 is gonna brake you then you should consider selling your Vette. JMHO

I can't believe some of you use regular gasoline.
This is a world-class sports car guys, regardless of how hard you push it, it should be filled with premium gasoline!
How much are you really saving anyway? Tsk tsk..

I'm a stinker in math, but let's see.....
Difference btwn reg. and prem. gas is .30 a gallon. (20 cents here in Hawaii.) Adverage mileage per year is 10,000. Vette gets about 25 mpg. (10,000 X .30 / 25 = $120) The savings is about $120 a yr. About 3 tanks of gas. Hardly seems worth it.
Did I do it right...?

This topic comes up frequently.
I fill my car up maybe once every other month.
Only 93 octane Chevron here.

The way I look at it is that I purchased a high performance car and the manufacturer recommends a minimum of 91 octane (which is the best I can get where I live). At $3.15 per gallon for 91 octane, and average fillup of 15 gallons = $47.25. At $2.95 per gallon for regular and the same fillup = $44.25. Looks to me like I saved about $3.00
Suddenly - the savings looks kind of insignificant doesn't it?
