Default Polarized prescription sunglasses and HUD don't mix

Just bought my first pair of prescription polarized sunglasses last friday and sad to say I found out they don't work very well with corvettes' HUD and tinted windows....bummer. I wish the girl at the optician would have known that before I spent $290 on them. With the tinted windows up and the sunglasses on, I see purple and green stripes on the side windows and when I look at the HUD I can barely see it. Cannot see the message board at all on the dashboard.

Anyone else have similar experiences? Is there something I am missing here that can solve this problem?

I really liked the polarized lenses for everything else but not for driving the vette.

I've never worn any sunglasses other than polarized Costa Del Mars in my Vette and my HUD is crystal clear. When I look out tinted windows I get a rainbow effect sometimes, no matter which car I'm driving.
Maybe it's your sunglasses??

Mine are not prescription but I have polarized Oakley's and ya, they make seeing the HUD tough. But on a bright sunny day, I can forego that luxury as having polarized sunglasses makes driving a whole lot easier without the glare.

You might have to go back and ask the optician to "cross polarize" the lenses. This is where one lens is cut to fit the frame with the polarization going left to right and the other cut to go up and down.

I have a hard time seeing my HUD too with my polarized Ray Ban sunglasses on. When I wear my cheapo sunglasses I have no problems at all! Be it what it is, IMO the polarized glasses are the way to go!

According to a thread posted about a month ago Serengeti's, which are incredible sunglass and available in prescription, don't interfere with seeing the HUD. My cheapies on the other hand .

Seeing the HUD clearly with polarized sunglasses has been mentioned as a problem on here before.

I wear Costa Del Mars too. The HUD is a little washed out, but I can see it just fine.

I usually wear Maui Jim or Oliver Peoples -- Both are crystal clear and don't affect the HUD
